Re: Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy Phase 2 - 18 days left of new work

Noticed that there were 42.5K validated results yesterday at 1.79 hours mean run time. This morning there were 23K validated with a mean time of 1.41 hours per task.

Never seen results with 6 position sets... techs making sure that no further grandchildren are being generated? Fast and furious, your wingman also got nothing, but what would it have been at under 36 seconds? Could be it rounded in print to 0.0. Actual credit is computed to I think 6 decimals... 0.049 would not show on the Result Status page, but it would go to the tally.

Re: Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy Phase 2 - 18 days left of new work

On another note, the number of crunchers on this project must have dropped. I have never seen so many work units where I'm my own wingman. It's spooky even.

I thought that was not possible (the same user receiving two copies of the same WU). I learn something new every day.

Since I reached my goals on the "last" 18-days period, I opted-out of this project to help others get theirs.

Different devices is allowed, there being volunteer players that have hundreds or thousands contributing to WCG... there are enough other checks to not make it problem [device reliability rating e.g.] ;>)

Yup, I got a spate of these 7th generation work units as well. Many of them round off and display 0.0 run time but they're still getting (minimal) credit.

Considering I had one machine return about 200 valid results in about an hour I'm anticipating the validated results for the project to take a major spike once these get worked.

Re: Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy Phase 2 - 18 days left of new work

The saga continues. I'm now receiving 9th generation work units such as this one: CMD2_ 2010-3B2T_ B.clustersOccur-3BVO_ A.clustersOccur_ 2_ 37771_ 39169_ 38332_ 38471_ 38353_ 38372_ 38354_ 38372_ 38355_ 38372_ 38356_ 38372_ 38357_ 38372_ 38358_ 38372_ 1--

I think the techs need to be apprised of this situation and check if something isn't going amiss with the splitter.

I was wondering the same. I've noticed a rash of 5+ generation units which run between 0.00 and 0.03 hours. confused

Re: Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy Phase 2 - 18 days left of new work

On this machine I downloaded a whole bunch with a 3-or-4-or-so cache, that were projected to be about 0.3 hours long. Now, half a day later, they are projected to take 1:46:55h.

It may well be that some will not get the deadline, I'm afraid...

Anyway, I can only access a few of the boxes, so there's nothing much I can do. They run in high priority now.

Re: Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy Phase 2 - 18 days left of new work

Hmmm, wonder if this added extraneous load on the rest of the system, noticed through the general lag in validator speed. Monday, yesterday, we set a new official record results day of 1,058,854 and the nightly spill was larger than normal suggesting validator overtime [after a maintenance out, which we'll be seeing for some time to come as the server 700 BOINC software is been tuned and customized further to meet the WCG needs. [one size does not fit all].

(truly wish for some forum reporting moratorium, a first 3 hours cease fire-threading of not getting instant credit gratification on the Result Status page cool )
