Hi,
You don't tell what version of BOINC you installed or what bits, but these were quick hits, right at the developers forum and Gentoo wiki, using Google: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=7262#42456 http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/BOINC_x86_on_64bit Do these help? --//-- P.S. It's BOINC just as it is CentOS ;>) |

I set up Boinc on Centos 6 a few weeks ago, I followed these instructions .
----------------------------------------Just change # yum install boinc-client to # yum install boinc-client boinc-manager If you have trouble with the client connecting to local host follow these instruction where it says under setting up your account the recommended procedure ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Okay looks like downgrading my BOINC client to 6.10.58 fixed the problem. Thanks for the help !

Great, thread OP title please to be marked [RESOLVED] as I did to this post.
Sunfolk, thanks for those links. Maybe these too will help the next with same/similar issue. Interesting is that I found a Gentoo wiki for the problem and you a Fedora flavor one. :D --//-- |

Shall I use openSUSE or Ubuntu in order to get higher versions of boinc ? Neither, you should use Centos! You generally can't mix and match packages from different distributions. But dont expect any upgrades anytime soon, Centos maybe supported (in terms of security/bug fixes)for years and years but the downside is that the package versions may not be upgraded for years and years ![]() Why do you need to upgrade? If you must have the latest and greatest try Fedora or even Ubuntu. I have Boinc 6.10.45 on two RHEL/Centos boxes works fine and I dont have to follow the Ubuntu 18 month "upgrade cycle" or suffer Unity ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by sunfolk at Apr 24, 2012 11:05:02 PM] |
