I don't see how this can be a Linux version problem as I have Win 7 on my laptop and one of my quad towers, and Vista on the other two systems. As I had said in the first note for this thread, I tried Retrying the first WU in the Transfers list and Nothing happened. I had to Retry one of those in the middle of the list and all but the first two downloaded. I was then able to Retry the second WU followed by a Retry of the first, and the downloads completed successfully, and all the work in the task list changed from downloading to Running or Ready to start.

Has no rhyme or reason to it... my Linux box runs sweetly... even changed sciences 24 hours ago from SN2S to SN2S/GFAM/DSFL... zero problems, on all hosts.
What changed in security software the last 72 hours? Avast is offering an update to the last engine release, but am holding off. Keep in mind that also today we're hitting result records [1.2-1.25 million], but absent any problems in the Italian outback, don't think it's that either. Validators/Transitioners are pretty current at that and no "no work" reporting. --//-- |

I just finished checking all my systems, and the one I was having problems with yesterday is still running fine. However, my other quad which is using Vista had the same problem with all tasks under Tasks showing Downloading. I went to Transfers and there were two WUs waiting to be transferred. No matter what I did, I could not get the download to work. My messages have
Temporarily failed download of sn2s.target_AAW88541.pdbqt and Temporarily failed download of sn2s.target_AAW88540.pdbqt So the next thing I did was to reboot. When the system came up, the task list showed some Running and Ready to start, and the remaining downloading. I went to Transfers, and there was only one WU waiting to download. I did a Retry and went back to Tasks, and the remaining WUs went into Ready to start status. |

I can't reboot any of my boxes until the weekend - will watch what happens before then, and after. Until that, it looks like my machines could soon be idle for the first time in years...

I managed to sneak in a reboot of my two boxes which were failing. They both managed to clear the errors and download other WUs successfully afterwards. So I'm up and running again - but this isn't something I'll be able to do often. I haven't heard if this problem is known to have been fixed, but let me know if I can provide any help in the way of logging or whatever.

And I think Alver is right : It must be a problem with the Linux 6.10 agent because I got no problems with the Windows 6.10 on XP SP3 32bits until Christmas ( The day my old MB died : How ironic ) And I didn't have this problem with the Linux 6.12 agent in the last 2 months. I just reset SN2S in my project choice, let's see if it's fixed... otherwise, I'll reinstall the 6.12.34 from the Berkeley website. Something polluted DNS caches somewhere... for it to go stale, local, with your ISP or on route to WCG hosting centre. That's my present impression. Why Linux would be more prone to this than Windows... big ?. WIFI continued to be weak through kernel 2.6.38, but 3.0.16 is performing admirably.
As I noted above, I did nothing to my Linux system and it continues to run 100%, but I do have *all* the WCG IP addresses in the hosts file as per this post: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/printpost_post,338077 . Of course added them all and then forgetting about it and WCG changing/added/removing addresses will cause headscratchers in an unknown future. --//-- |

Hum.. Today, SN2S WUs downloaded perfectly, some AAW88544.
Two solutions : 1/ A problem of DNS caches as SekeRob said : It might not work the first time because I let run BOINC (and my computer) when I reset the Box. 2/ An hasardous problem in some Project's servers ( maybe overloaded ) |
