Re: New Machine for the battle:Supermicro socket 2011 'Dualie"

Awesome machine! How is the noise level with that chassis? Which heat sinks are you using?

Very quiet to be honest. I have the side cover off for obvious reasons.
It's been very warm here this week, set this up wednesday morning, house temps at 80F..Machine is running at 59-61C at full load.

Heatsinks are from Supermicro and not bad at all.
5 heatpipes per side, Nidec fans at app 2200-2400RPM
Hard drive is a single 2-3 year old 150 gig WD Raptor.

Is this a business machine or just a machine you bought for yourself. Either way, amazing machine to crunch on!

So what's the ticket to your 'privileged' position? If you do not answer that question, I will try to harness all of the energy from the jealousy created by your monster-machine and...

... use that energy to iterate, project, or extrapolate what that ticket might be! laughing

Raid5 on the hard disks would probably (definitely) reduce the load on the drives, don't forget to move the pagefile as well as all temp files to a separate harddisk

I HOPE he also extended the time between writes so it is NOT constantly writing! I have changed mine from the default of 60 seconds to 15 minutes!

Not priviledged, lets just say stubborn, focused and I find ways around the brick walls that life tosses in front of us and in this case it took in excess of 6 months to make this work.
Also I know a few people in the industry..Not a lot, but a few.

To Mikey159B: I'm at 600 seconds between writes. I do that on all my machines.
