After sleeping on it, the current ranking only tells me how many folks have contributed more than I. If the rankings were reversed, it would only tell me how many folks I'm contributing more than, which is equally useless. I desire the rankings to be expressed as a percentile only since it gives me a feel for where I rank in terms of how much I contribute to W.C.G. -=in relation to others=-. I want to know that since in the original post my rank was #125,400, and if that is 125,400th out of 125,400 participants, wow, I'm am the worst contributor. (but at least I DO contribute, which is already a win) ([sarcasm] and not that I'm competitive or anything) If that is 125,400th out of 1,000,000,000,000 participants, all right then, you're welcome W.C.G. :-)

And I agree with gordoma that this should not be a change, it should only be an new additional statistic. [PREMISE] Change the way something works and you'll always upset folks. [/PREMISE] But the ranking as it is doesn't give me any *useful* feedback, so I vote for either (a) add the percentile ranking, or (b) take away the ranking altogether, but because of the preceding premise, that won't go well. Also, well said gordoma, it's about perspective and encouragement. And getting folks interested in increasing their -=percentile=- results in an orgasmic flurry of more and more CPU cycles donated, since as person A increases their donation, their percentile goes up... until person B also increases their donated cycles and A drops back down again. And instead of two people, scale that to the size of the W.C.G. user-base...
