I don't think where to rebuild is much of an option as people get used to the area where they live and they don't want to change that. I think it should be more of a matter as to how they rebuild. Where the area they rebuild on allows for building on top of something that prevents water from gettingin their house, they should do that (unless we have 40 days and nights of heavy rain). Personally, I live on a hillside so I don't think I will ever be threatened by flooding. I suppose that that it depends on your perception of the danger. I would think that if a 100' sinkhole was within 20 feet of your basement, you would move. If a volcano came up and lava was running down your street, then you would move. Extreme examples but again it is perception. I always wondered why desert dwellers live there and starve most of the time. It is the desert, it has been the desert for hundreds of years and will be the desert for hundreds of years. Might move off to the side of the desert where you can grow stuff to eat. Oh well. It is expected that we are entering a decade where the storms will be stronger and more frequent. My guess is that I would at least get at least partway out of what seems to be harm's way. Oh wait... I already did that. Now watch... I will get a tornado come through. (No I won't see a flood unless 90% of Texas is under water. I live near the top on a tall lazily sloping hill that is several hundred feet above the rivers that run through hereabouts) In other news, I just had a long phone call with our friend nanoprobe. He walked me through some stuff on the GPU that I am running. After he showed me how to do some stuff, then I went to tinkering with the GPU clock and memory clock. We will see how it effects my stats. Very interesting stuff. NanoProbe is a really nice guy. I did not try to recruit him to the team but it would be really nice to have him on board. |
