Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 project update, November 2, 2012

This is one of my favourite projects for crunching. Thanks for the update.
Do you have plans developing GPU client? This can make your storage look small in quite short time :)

Hello idimitro,

The Clean Energy team has discussed their current position on GPU here .

Thank you for participating.

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 project update, November 2, 2012

There was a restatement on the GPU situation few weeks ago [which obviously now that we have 1 science with such an implementation, leads to this being asked more often]: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=397190

With the "lag" on desktop some [NVidia] crunchers have moaned about, the obvious is: What happens if you build a 2GB model on the GPU card... will I still be able to play WoW and watch Saturday Night live without jitter... and then, since GPU's don't know the LAIM concept when paused, 10 minutes into that 3rd job simulation [assuming they too run 18 times faster like HCC], a higher priority job wanting to take over, and poof, gone progress. A very niche, dedicated crunching picture I'm getting. :|

Thanks for your update. I really appreciate that.
For me as a material science engineer it would be quite helpfull to get some advice/links how to make use of your databases.

Warm regards

Dr. Ruediger Hartung, Germany

Dear Dr. Hartung,
Our database ('CEPDB') is not yet publicly available, but we are working hard to get it there. If you are interested in a privileged scientific collaboration you can send us an eMail with your specific interest and we will try to help you out with that earlier.
Best wishes
Your Harvard CEP team

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 project update, November 2, 2012

How is the partnership with Wolfram Alpha going?
When can we expect the database to go public?

Sorry to ask this again, but as you know the CEP project is of little use if the results can't be accessed by the researchers.

Thanks in advance

Re: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 project update, November 2, 2012

Hi Theor,
there's a minor snag in our work with Wolfram - we are generating a new library for them which makes some trouble but we hope this gets fixed soon.
We confirmed the public launch of CEPDB for early summer as part of a concerted Materials Genome Initiative roll-out. However, interested researchers can already contact us about collaborations - no need to wait for the pretty frontend for this.
Best wishes
Your Harvard CEP team

Here, that link returns
Error 404: SRVE0190E: File not found: /...,30293_offset,1400
Perhaps the link was pasted in without using the url/url tags?

(Edit: And perhaps this is the correct link?)

Thank you for your answer, Cleanenergy. We are looking forward to seeing that!
