I just got a new rig up and running - SR-2 with one 7950 oc'ed to 1100 and I want to know if the oc is too aggressive. BTW, if anyone can tell what I should use to stability test a GPU, I would be grateful.
----------------------------------------Anyway, right now what I'm doing is looking very carefully at the the wu's that are returned. So far there have been more errors and invalids than I would like but I think those have happened when I have made changes to the app_info file or when the amd driver has failed and recovered. I'm use WCGDAWS to do this which is very helpful by the way. I think things are probably ok and maybe I need to boost the power from +5% voltage to maybe +6 or 7% (any advice here is also welcome). But what I noticed is that I'm getting the normal pendings that say pending validation but there's also the second kind noted. What the heck are they and should I be concerned? Thanks. ![]() ![]() |

Pending Validation means that it thinks the WU is ok and is awaiting the return of the wingman result.
Pending Verification is that it thinks it could be dodgy and has sent out another copy to verify it....this used to be called "inconsistent" and the changed it to Pending Verification to confuse every one ![]() |

Well. Doesn't that just suck the chrome off a trailer hitch?
----------------------------------------OK. I've knocked the oc down to 1050 and the voltage up to 6%. I'm refreshing DAWS. Time to spin the wheel again. edit: BTW, thank you Scribe ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by twilyth at Jan 25, 2013 7:16:44 AM] |

Just to add to Scribe's correct answer, every computer is occasionally verified against another computer as a random quality check.

I think I have too many to believe it's something that innocuous, but thank you too.

twilyth,
----------------------------------------Pending verification you'd normally only see on Zero Redundant sciences, when the initial distribution was 1, but the validators deciding that the client has not reached "reliable" state yet. To get ZR without wingman and no second opinion verification/validation you need 5 sequential valids first, so if you load up from the get go with big cache, there's no reliability state, and you'll get oodles of ZR jobs that will get a wingman, until that trusted state is reached. For HCC is does not matter... it's a quorum 2 science, but a PVer could still follow if the 2 results dont match close enough, like absolute. Every time there's an invalid, the serial 5 valid check fails, more PVal and PVer. ** Scribe, for the "inconsistent", it was really called "inconclusive"... careful with the glue you use when working on your models. Certainly the old stuff had outright dangerous content, but the ship that had 2000 hours in it is 45 years later still standing "tall"... ;>) edit: ** Think a runtime "Error" also kicks the 5 validations serial [server 700 rule]. Aborted before start does though not. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 25, 2013 7:58:45 AM] |

For the HCC project every result is verified against at least one other, AKA minimum quorum of 2. twilyth, did you examine the status of the quorum for a few of the results in question by clicking on the result name? Has a 3rd copy of the WU been sent out? I think "pending verification" could also pop up if the validation process has not yet been run on the set of returned results. BTW, what is DAWS? I have questions on the procedures for offline testing of GPU overclock settings too. |

DAWS aka WCGDAWS is a Windows program that extract all results from the Result Status [RS] pages. Every time it's updated, it checks if a status has changed for PVal and PVer records, until a final state is reached. It retains the records after they have been migrated off the RS pages. You can run many custum filter views with it and provides averages for the filtered results. (See pirogue thread for program links).
----------------------------------------edit: DAWS is short for Device And Workunit Stats. Not tried to run it in a WINE window on Linux. There's some prerequisites. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 25, 2013 8:04:04 AM] |

I try very hard to avoid doing any actual work. And since there were a couple dozen of these in sequence, it looked very much like they getting the server's version of a body cavity search. ![]() ![]() |

I have noticed that I am currently getting more Pending Verification since the server maintenance.
