Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 61 smilesmile

At least two of my systems are struggling with the VINA version of FAAH and none of my systems seem to be able to handle multiple CEP jobs... so I'll be contributing more to other projects until the VINA problems are fixed or new projects get started at WCG. I'll still keep running CEP and the one system that seems to run VINA FAAH o.k. -- unless it runs into the infinite loop issue.

Just when you thought it was safe to go into the water again .....

This reminds me of the problems I had with HPF2. Only one of my systems could run it reliably. sad

I was having a problem this morning bringing up my browser and notepad, so I did a shutdown (couldn't even get to the option to specify restart). Right now, things seem to be operating fine. I don't know if I have similar problems on the quads, but this was on my laptop. Thanks for your update to the forum darth_vader.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 61 smilesmile

I've finally had a FAAH Vina run on my laptop (XP and BOINC 7.0.64). Still in PV but stderr looks fine. The two dozen or so betas I got ran fine too but those ran on the quad (Vista and 6.10.58). Normally, I have FAAH running on the quad and CEP2 on the laptop. Folks need to remember that CEP2 has a special profile setting that you use to run more than one at a time (I had forgotten about that myself). I have that set to unlimited so I can keep a normal cache of just CEP2 WUs on the laptop. When I was working on getting to sapphire on CEP2, I ran them on the quad as well but did a good bit of micromanaging. I found that I could have up to three running concurrently but four would have problems. Both machines have 4GB of memory. When I needed more WU's I'd bump my cache just enough to where I ended up getting three new CEP2 WUs and then switch to a different project, bump the cache a tad more to load wu's from that project and then repeat this all until I had the cache at the point I wanted. That let me run three CEP2s at once, run other WUs while they finished up and then start three more.

Gerald, hope you're doing much better now. Va to Tx in two days would have been a challenge for me in my young snot days! That's probably a good 24 hours of just drive time. I assume you're doing something along the lines of 95 down to 40, across NC and TN, picking up 30 in AR and on to DFW and 35 down to the Austin area? The road buzz from doing a 12 hour stint on the road takes me a day or two to get over nowadays.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 61 smilesmile

keithhenry, I have run CEP2 unlimited on all computers and have had no problems. All computers is two quads. one duo, and the laptop which is also a duo. Since I got past two years for CEP2 on my systems, I have not been pushing CEP2 work very much. I can say that I use about 3 days of CPU time for every calendar day for CEP2. Most of the remaining time is going to all versions of faah I am running. BTW, I have vista on a quad and a duo, and Windows 7 on the other quad and the laptop (the professional version).
