Re: Windows run times v. Linux?

The 6.25 work units are running a little under 3 hours on my i7-3770 (not overclocked) on Win7 64-bit (BOINC 7.0.64 x64). This seems reasonably fast, but this is one of those VINA projects where Linux has an advantage, but I have not seen a comparison of how much.

Thanks to anyone who can compare them.

Hi, Jim:

I'd like to compare these run times, but am having problems getting BOINC to communicate on my newest Linux PC AMD A10-5800K with Linux 64 bit Release 13 (Maya). The A10 is running at 4 GHZ, close to my FX-8350 @ 4.2GHz. I will get there....

Re: Windows run times v. Linux?

maybe this website could help you
http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/duree.py

That place as I found out yesterday is not exactly up-to-speed with WCG so I think. E.g. It logs all the 64 bit tasks of DSFL as 32 bit. In some places it got only HPF2 and GFAM as comparable sciences against a CPU/Platform. Funny is that seemingly by the quantity and date stats started, my 2670QM is/was the only one doing DSFL and reporting the stats to WUProp. Excellent in concept but if DIGO execution... At any rate, suspended this project with the 0.2% CPU load this NCI takes, until I can figure out where things go wrong [of course it must be me ;].

edits 2: Oh yes, this report only shows WCG's HPF2 and GFAM being run on Intel [which was the specified CPU, but including some AMD]: http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/compar_cpu...bile&modele=i7-2670QM

Absent data spread, suspect my 2670QM is a rarity, as else can't explain this.
