Re: Good morning everyone

Good Morning Team. Have a good Easter everyone.

Daniel only got 4 chocolate eggs this year, instead of the dozen he normally gets, I had about 4 for the first time since I was a child and so did the wife ;)

Had a bad few days pain wise. Pain level so bad I was unable to talk properly and could not eat. A little bit better today but now have a tummy ache to boot, nothing to do with chocolate! Oh well, roll on summer.

Going to add the i5 today, once I feel capable.

Re: Good morning everyone

Good morning all,

Sorry to hear that your pain has returned Steve (although I guess it is always there, just not so acute). No Easter eggs this year an no stomach ache either!

Nice electrical storm last night so when I got up this morning my iMac was cold. Fortunately it started again first time so nothing appears to be lost.

Re: Good morning everyone

Good Morning Team.
By the time you read this it will be morning in the UK but there is another hour of your yesterday to go here.
Having dallied with OPEN ZIKA I am now back on 100% SCC and racing towards my 20Y diamond. I figure that there is still around 3 months to get there so - unless there is another new project - I should arrive at around the beginning of July.
I hope the weather is warming up for everyone although I understand there is still snow in Edinburgh.

Re: Good morning everyone

Here's a funny-ish story for any computer geeks out there.

For reasons I won't bore you with, I decided to reinstall Windows 10 on my desktop PC (which has been running Linux Mint for a while). My computer has a Gigabyte motherboard with a pretty clever UEFI "BIOS". Anyway, could I get it to actually boot off the USB stick with Windows 10 on it? No.

It turns out that I'd set the BIOS to "Ultrafast Boot" mode. This is so fast, it doesn't have time to enable the keyboard before it boots the OS! By luck, and a lot of holding in of the power button, about one boot in 20 would get me into the BIOS. It took me three hours in the end to get it to boot off a USB stick.

Apparently the solution is to use a PS2 keyboard, which explains why an almost state-of-the-art motherboard has a PS2 socket I suppose.

Re: Good morning everyone

The team has achieved a lovely set of expensive badges in the past week. A D20 and four D10's.

I'm absolutely amazed that you found out how to get into the BIOS. I am sure after 30 minutes of trying there would be a 'BUGRIT' moment and back to Linux. Full marks for persistence. I just hope that the change will mean more and faster crunching but I'm notsure that Microhard Windblows is efficient in any version.
