Re: 100 not out

Happy new year Team UK :)

Not the start of the year I was hoping for. My central heating would not start so had 3 days of no heat and a £150 bill. The left front plastic wheel arch guard of my car shattered into many many pieces when I slowly (3mph) forded a tide flooded road yesterday, luckily one of my neighbours is a car mechanic and was able to fix it quite quickly and for free :)
Waiting for the third thing to go wrong!

Re: 100 not out

Hi Guys, Well The third thing has happened. My handbrake in the car stopped working. Found out my parking on a slope, got out, car started moving towards another car, typical slapstick with me jumping back in to hit the brakes. Because I have discs all round I have to replace the back calipers costing £350.
That hopefully will be all the bad luck out of the way.

Re: 100 not out

It's been very quiet around here recently! What do the team think about the enforced "holiday" coming up soon?

Re: 100 not out

For me it means I'll be turning my pc off overnight and once I see the electricity savings I might never leave it running again - so basically bad for the project!!

Re: 100 not out

been busy with work but do check in every so often and a belated happy new year :)

Im not liking the long downtime, i think its way longer than needed but without knowing all the fine details we will never know but based on my own experience of swapping data centers most things can be done in a matter of days or weeks rather than months with planning and they have been planning this for a while now. The other down side is i have it setup on some of the work pc (with permission of course) and its a great way to see who is working or not as it only runs when they arent using the pc.

Re: 100 not out

It does seem an exceedingly long amount of time for what they are doing.
I believe strongly that the project is worthwhile and will stick with it, some may think otherwise, and lots may not even notice the downtime.
The project will lose some participants, and I suspect that people will try out other projects during the downtime, hopefully to return afterwards.

Outage

Afternoon all. Hope everyone is well.

I did wonder why I hadn't received any new work for a few days, then made one of my infrequent visit to the forum and saw the announcement. I should visit more often!

We do have a UK team on a few other projects, off hand not sure how many are active but Milkyway and Einstein are. You can see the list here -
https://www.boincstats.com/stats/-1/team/detail/34360/projectList

If I remember correctly, if a team is added to a project as "UK" then the stats should be linked to our main team stats on sites such as Boincstats.

Some do have GPU work. So until WCG is back up, I'll be contributing to a couple of our other projects.

Hopefully we won't lose team members during the outage and that everyone will be back to normal when the system is online again.

Re: Outage

Been away on holiday and had noticed my daily statistics going down.

Have to say, not very well communicated.

Just in the process of ditching the few WCG Work Units on my devices and switching to Einstein / Milkyway as noted above (a lot of the other projects don't appear to allow you to connect?)
