Re: Morning Update II

@ Ian_UK: Have you tried googling the problem (how to remove hard drive from Dell Laptop XPS XXXXX... or words to the effect of), you'll usually find someone who says how to do it, or a YouTube video about it?

Strange, I can see everyone's Globe Sig, but I can't see my own?? can anyone else see my sig?

Can't see it! sad

Trying to track it down loading http://wcgsig.com/239754.gif returns "Cannot display because it contains errors". Probably a glitch at SNURK's end and will clear when he next updates.

Many thanks. Found this yesterday (what a bad design!) ....

Due to complexity crying chicken I thought better get the manual chicken. Also wanted to wait for slot Blu Ray writer from scan.co.uk as couldnt find one locally (unsurprising as google suggested that nothing other than the Silverstone Panasonic UJ265 Slot-In Slim Blu-ray Burner may fit laptop).

Re: Morning Update II

Wanted to try Ubuntu more so installed current version 13.04 of Ubuntu onto this computer, but high learning overhead at moment to get anything working (or continue to work ....Yes, I like to play ... Had temporarily got BOINC to work to a fashion (though was single core, advance view not available....)., but not now... Probably need clean install again...)

I'm running debian (of which Ubuntu is a derivative of sorts) on most of my servers, along with an older version of Ubuntu on my laptop, so if you have any questions about getting things working, I can try to answer them! smile

When we release the website changes for the upcoming project release, the result status page will then show User Abort and Server Abort properly for the exit 202 and exit 203 status code.

At present the Results Status page only shows Error rather than the detailed descriptor.

upcoming project release - Yes, but when will that be?? confused

Hmm There appears to be a transient problem - WCG normally updates Last Result Returned (UTC) at 17:00 (18:00 BST) but it didn't happen! thinking No maintenance scheduled and no one else has commented. Watch this space.

[edit] Updated as I was typing so it was only transient. smile

Re: In Other News

Evening all, this may be extremely random and completely unrelated to WCG, but I was wondering, have any of you guys done BitCoin Mining? I'm considering buying a cheap £20 USB "Block Erupter" which claims 336MH/s in an attempt to see whether its a worthy investment or not =\ also would that Block Erupter interrupt my WCG work? I did try it on my computer, but despite an Intel i7 with 8 cores, I was only working at 5MH/s which from what I can tell is nothing at all

if this is too offtopic or whatever I apologise and shall delete this if asked too!!!

=)

Re: In Other News

Having looked into it a while ago, I'd say BitCoin mining is the kind of thing you wanted to have done from the very start, unless you fancy piling a ridiculous amount of cash into it. According to the current difficulty-rating and some vague figures thrown together, you'd need around 70 GH/s to break even (money-wise), if that's why you're looking to do it...

Especially given the price crashed a few days ago, when one of the huge (and illegal) vendors was caught and arrested...

Re: In Other News

Within this thread there isn't really a topic so you can't be "off-topic".

WCG admin check fairly often to make sure other rules aren't breached but I'm not aware we've ever had a problem.
