Here's an odd occurrence among the many all-error recent WUs. My copy was declared "Too late" less than 8 hrs after my machine received it. I suppose it would have been server aborted if it hadn't started running yet.

It seems to me I have seen this before, but I don't remember exactly what the cause was. I do remember it has nothing to do with your machine. Possibly there was erroneous header information or a typo someplace. I would not give it a second thought unless there is a rash of them.

Nothing to worry about. It just means that the techs (or the system) marked the work unit as unusable. Since you had already started it, you didn't get the standard server aborted.
----------------------------------------The message is simply misleading as this version of the BOINC server software doesn't always display the correct status code. Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

Nothing to worry about. It just means that the techs (or the system) marked the work unit as unusable. Since you had already started it, you didn't get the standard server aborted. BOINC includes two types of server-abortions, the most commonly seen "abort if unstarted" but also the "enforce abort even if started". The latter is used in instances like here where the wu has already errored-out, since if a wu has errored-out any results will never be validated and this again means the results won't be used and it's a waste of time & electricity to continue crunching this task. But since all connections is initiated by individual computers and not the server, it's possible the 1st. time after wu errored-out a computer reports the finished task and therefore it's not aborted. Instead it's marked "too late", meaning it's "too late to be tried validated". "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |
