Hi all, I have written an article introducing members of my church (Unitarian Universalist) to W.C.G, and I'd like to have a team that church members can join. The question I have at the moment is (1) if I can just go ahead and create the team even though I'm not officially connected with the church in any way, or if it would be less hassle in the long run if the team was created by someone at an email address from the church? To rephrase, if creating a team only involves making a team name that then collects the stats of all the users who associate with that team, I could do that easily. (2) If, on the other hand, the email address that creates the team may later be asked to perform maintenance tasks, I do not want that to be me, since I may not live here forever. (3) Which leads to the question of if the team creation email later has team maintenance responsibilities, but those can be easily transferred to another email address, then I'll just go ahead and make the team. But then before I do, since I've proposed a team name and have not heard back yet, (4) can a team change it's name?
I bet I'm way over-thinking this, but just wanna be sure, thanks for any advice, Jeff |

Hello JeffKnox,
Yes, you can change the team name. It is explained at https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=teams#136 which is listed under 'Help' in the upper right. The team Captain can be changed by the WCG staff, who can be reached through 'Contact'. Lawrence |

Hi Jeff,
----------------------------------------To quickly go yhrough your points: 1. Anyone can create a team using any name subject only to the usual rules i.e. avoid offensive or inappropriate. 2 & 3. The email address for the team/teamcaptain needs only to be a valid one and is easily changed at anytime. There are currently no maintenance tasks associated with running a team save those that a team captain choses to undertake to support his or her team. Inactive team captains can be changed by Admin as detailed above. 4. Yes - easily Well run teams, offering nurture and support to their members, can be a positive force for sustaining and growing the crunching contribution. Teams that have no existence outside of WCG are hampered by the inability to communicate with their members (outside of this forum) so you have a head start in this respect. Team stats can be as simple or as complex as you wish. To get an idea check out MyOnlineTeam or UK Team Good luck ![]() |
