I am starting a new thread specifically for the following error message
----------------------------------------17/12/2013 07:03:05 | World Community Grid | Requesting new tasks for CPU This message is what follows when you have managed to Report tasks using the "No New Task" workround described in another thread.17/12/2013 07:03:08 | World Community Grid | [error] Can't parse task in scheduler reply: unexpected XML tag or syntax 17/12/2013 07:03:08 | World Community Grid | [error] No close tag in scheduler reply Has anyone successfully managed to download new tasks after having received the above message? I have tried various methods, Reboot, stop start Boinc, Repair Boinc......nothing works..... ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 19, 2013 5:59:40 AM] |

Guessing your buffers are empty of WCG work, all is reported, the Detach / Add Project worked for Danogian, duangbong and others. Just a project Reset might work as was suggested by uplinger [but does not do a total clean of WCG bits]. for both methods, to all readers benefit: Open BOINC Manager > Advanced View [if in simple], Project tab, select WCG and operate Reset project or Remove[Detach]. After a Remove/Detach, go to Tools menu and add WCG back, username/password. In either case, all WCG application programs you had before will be downloaded afresh, which can take a little time.
----------------------------------------Those doing Detach / Add Project and have a app_config or app_info customized file in the WCG project folder need to take a backup copy as it will be wiped as well with 7.2 clients [don't know about 7.0.64/67], but JIC. NB: I've included the specific error message in reply title. Then we know for sure what problem is subject. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 17, 2013 9:01:53 AM] |

Reseting the project doesn't help. I still have the same XML error message.

knreed et al: Does a reset and detach remove the 2 WCG scheduler files? Did not pay attention this morning when first doing a detach, then a reset [no issue, not had this yet]. Did a clean install thereafter this afternoon with 7.2.34 and had absolutely no issue! Had deleted all content from the data_dir, except cc_config.xml and app_config.xml (restored them actually). My config has the time-out values slowed to since longer
<http_transfer_timeout>300</http_transfer_timeout> <http_transfer_timeout_bps>10</http_transfer_timeout_bps> since about when we first encountered this is 2012. |

OK just got back and read all after my last post.....I uninstalled Boinc and went through the whole of my PC and removed anything to do with Boinc, all directories and files, then reinstalled Boinc and all now working. Sorry Kevin saw your message after I had deleted the lot!

No problem Scribe.
Thanks 3rkko - I was able to reproduce 2-3 times before it went through successfully. You should be ok now. Anyone else who experiences the issue, please send the files to me. The error is transient and I'm able to test it 4-5 times before the issue clears and the requests start going through. There is definitely an issue but I haven't figured out exactly what conditions result in the issue yet. |
