I recently started running BOINC on my LG Optimus F3 phone. It was going swimmingly until, like an idiot, I accidentally deleted the app's file cache.
Realizing I'd messed up, I uninstalled and re-installed the app freshly, re-attached to World Community Grid, and watched as the device downloaded new workunits and proceeded as normal, apparently. However, I'm not seeing the device getting any credit. Under "Projects" I see my username: "Janus5" - and "Credit: 0 (on this device) 5785 total". I also have BOINC running on my rooted Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet, and it's running just fine. I'm not running this project for credit points, I'm doing it for the science benefit that the project runners are hopefully getting. My concern is that my device is either not running the projects correctly, or sending the results to... somewhere. I don't know! Perusing the logs, I can see that it seems to be firing off fine, completing units, uploading them, and downloading new ones. But I can't tell, because of the lack of credit, if the device is actually doing any useful work, or if it's wasting time somehow. I'm new to the project and software, so please be patient with me. Help? :) |

Hi,
----------------------------------------If the results haven't validated yet, then it would show 0 credits. Have you checked the results status page to see if some of the tasks completed on that device are marked as "Valid". If they are marked as "Pending Validation" or "Pending Verification" wait a few days. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Thank you for your reply! I didn't know that page was there - again, I apologize, I'm new.
I do see I have a LOT of work either 'pending validation' or 'pending verification', some from as far back as 1/26/14. I see one or two reporting as "error", which I'm hoping are simply the units that I accidentally deleted. I'll keep an eye on this page from now on. Thank you! Is there a typical turn around time for validation/verification? Thanks again! |

Is there a typical turn around time for validation/verification? You're typically waiting on another cruncher to return a valid result, to compare yours against and ensure a valid result. Sometimes, it is also because of a high volume of workunits that create a backlog on the server or other problems. |

...I see one or two reporting as "error", which I'm hoping are simply the units that I accidentally deleted... While that might be the case, another common cause is being investigated and hopefully, will be resolved in the future ( https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,36262 ). Thus, if you happen to see some invalid results, you can decrease the cores being used (generally 1 or 2 will work on most devices but others can run at 3 or 4, depending on the device. Thus, you will have to test it out on your device) until the fix is released. ![]() |
