By asking this question it will show my limited understanding of these two programs.
I have 6.10.58 Boinc Manager installed. I received an email for upgrading to Boinc 7.2.42 7 does not work on my Mac Pro running 10.9.2 So why are there two different programs or again does this simply show my un-understanding? Cliff Leonard |

It is the same program, BOINC. However, WCG has a custom version which has a new skin and some different settings (not sure about this one). Also, WCG's BOINC version is security audited.

WCG has to approve the security of the Boinc before they recommend it as their 'official' version.

Cliff, I've been downloading and running BOINC from the Berkeley site for a good nine years now just fine. If this is for your own computers, you should be fine too. The "WCG" version is, IMHO, for those running BOINC on machines at a business or university where they normally only let you use "approved" software. Letting workers run software they get off some website can be dangerous in today's world. Most places like that buy site licenses or get the software directly and have folks who install and manage it on their systems.
----------------------------------------BOINC also comes in different "flavors" for different operating systems. If you go to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php you will see versions for OS/X. |

Thanks.
WCG has this for d/l 6.10.58 Boinc Manager. Boinc "proper" offers this for downloading 7.2.42. Since the 7 V's have not been able to load on my Mac Pro that means WCG only runs on 6.10.58? |

I'm crunching for WCG on BOINC 7. The question is why BOINC 7 won't load on your machine. What level of OS are you running? |
