I never saw the original version and Sagan has always irritated me a bit. I'm sure he was a fine astronomer and all but I never appreciated the 'waxing poetic' bit he would always do.
----------------------------------------Of course there are millions of people who probably thought that was his best quality - aside from making science seem more accessible to the masses - so I know I'm in the minority. But as a result I never bothered watching the original show. I had higher hopes for the new version but I really should have known better. I fast forward through a lot of it since so much was old news but the one thing I rather liked was the story of Giordano Bruno. Of course that was the main thing that they got completely wrong . I would have hoped Tyson was smarter than to get into bed with Fox, even to do a reboot of a show that is widely regarded as being one of the ultimate classics in television. But I guess he just couldn't pass up the opportunity it presented. Oh well. ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by twilyth at Mar 11, 2014 9:30:22 PM] |

Last night's episode was pretty good. Again had to fast forward through a lot of it but I was very surprised that Tyson took the issue of evolution head on and seemed to do so very elegantly.
