I've searched the forums, site and FAQs so sorry if this is a well rehearsed question, but can you change the device name? I've got two android devices running boinc and would like to name them eg Nexus 7.

I thought so - but thought I'd ask. It seemed a very obvious question so I figured I might as well be the first to ask it! :) Thanks!

When writing about boinc assuming the device name of android, it is as found the device identifying itself with that plus the complete mac code on a local network. Because of security, only the last piece of that mac code is integrated in the device name that the agent transmits to the projects so members can identify the individual hosts, whenever they have more devices.

If you're running Nativeboinc you can change your device name. I'm not sure but I thought it was possible to set an individual device nane in the boinc app too.

I recently installed Linux, and my device name automatically became the device name used during installation.
----------------------------------------I suppose that's one way of changing the device name, just install or re-install Linux? But this is on a desktop, not Android. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 26, 2014 4:52:51 PM] |
