Don't know if any of you noticed the new beta that went out yesterday. It seems that it will require machines that have the SSE2 instruction set. That means it won't run on really old machines <snip> I didn't see any beta WUs. Oh well. SSE2 was introduced as part of the Pentium 4 chips (about 2001 or 2002). AMD provided support a little later. Atom processors probably have support, but I don't know for sure. Should be easy enough to find on Intel's web site. Odds are if your processor is less than 10 years old, it has SSE2. - D I think these betas are Clean Energy II betas. I have processed several and they are very quick running. There does not seem to be many of them. Interesting. I haven't been keeping up with CEP much lately since I've been crunching MCM1 only (a bit over 16 months to the 5 year diamond badge). I didn't think it was that close to being complete. From what I read about the beta, the system requirements (memory and such) are pretty low and CEP definitely wasn't like that. Whatever it turns out to be, it's going to be interesting for me to figure out whether I want to start on the new project, finish going for the 5 year diamond badge or some of both. |

Total points returned this period: 236,571,082 Active members returning points this period: 39 Average points per member active this period: 6,065,925.17949 I remember looking at our numbers at the end of June and seeing that we likely won't beat our numbers for last year. I do expect some degree of an uptick after we get through the summer heat but, seeing our numbers for July, it's probably going to have to be a fairly good uptick to have a shot at beating last year's numbers. Still though, last year's numbers were very good numbers and this year's will be too. We're most likely just not going beat our previous year's numbers for the first time. |

Turns out they had two betas - the one for the new CEP2 work on the 30th and one for the new project on the 29th. Looks like the new CEP2 work could be one last chunk to wrap things up so a new project coming will really be a good thing. |
