Re: New BETA test - Sept 10, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

Pramo,

You should have been able to see graphics on the beta application. It would have been mostly black though as lots of the branding for the new project is hidden or not sent (tga files).

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Received five or six of the betas. They all ran between 2.5h to 3.5h. All were 00008-units. They are now pending validation. Graphics were visible (counter pointing up on an otherwise black background).

yup, i was able to see the normal graphic on other machines- and other betas running on that particular machine. it was just those four, the "Show Graphics" button in Boincmgr (6.10.58) was greyed out. All betas finished ok ;)

Re: New BETA test - Sept 10, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

Just an update, the beta test is running very well. We have identified an issue with the result files. Thus another beta test will occur in the future after we sort that out. Also, we have some updates to the graphics code that will happen at that time as well.

No eta on those fixes.

Thanks,

Thanks for the update wonderful to hear that things are moving toward in such a good way. If there any idea as to how many work units are out in the wild so to speak? Just trying to get an idea on what the chances of giving a resend will be. Come to think of it there is probably a small chance that we will get some on the 15/16 th where I am, as that will be the 4 day deadline passed

Re: New BETA test - Sept 10, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

Speedy,

Resends are going to be very few. There are about 2500 results in the wild out of the ~9600 that were originally sent. Since they are short work units, I would bet most of those 2500 will come back before the deadline. Also, since the error rate is doing very well, you should not see much from that standpoint either.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Thanks for the fast response with the numbers. It is good to hear there will be very few resends. I have my fingers crossed that I will pick something up. If not hopefully I will have better luck with the next run. When ever that is.

On a complete side note you have some rather impressive project badges keep up the great work.

Re: New BETA test - Sept 10, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

I got a resend. Probably the first 2 wingmen were Pending Verification, but I couldn't see their status before my task returned.
Don't see something strange in the Invalid result (did all sequences), except the 2 restores from checkpoint short after each other. Strange is that the second did not restore from 3823 too. The other wingman with task **_0 was Valid and also had no restores from checkpoint in his result. Something wrong with checkpoint restore? The Beta's I suspended and resumed at least were all Valid or Pending Validation as far as I can see. Due to quick purging of the database, there are only 16 results on my list left from the >45 tasks I returned.

Re: New BETA test - Sept 10, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

A resend _2 caught here turned Valid with the _0 wingman's being Invalid following the first validation attempt.

BETA_ ugm1_ ugm1_ 00008_ 0710_ 2-- 717 Valid 11/09/14 23:32:02 12/09/14 01:39:45 2.10 73.2 / 77.0
BETA_ ugm1_ ugm1_ 00008_ 0710_ 0-- 717 Invalid 10/09/14 20:13:50 11/09/14 22:00:34 2.65 67.6 / 67.6
BETA_ ugm1_ ugm1_ 00008_ 0710_ 1-- 717 Valid 10/09/14 20:13:45 11/09/14 23:31:57 2.99 80.8 / 77.0

However, all 3 Result Logs were identical apart from CPU time and BOINC version, with no restores in any of them. Both _0 and _2 were using BOINC 7.2.47, _1 using 7.0.28. Is this an example of the result files issue?
