Nvidia Tegra K1 Performance

Hi everyone,

I'm considering to buy the new Nexus 9 and was asking myself how the Tegra K1 CPU is performing at wcg. Since I saw some promising benchmarks, it seems like an interesting crunching device.

Is there someone who has this tablet or another device with this processor already and could share his experience?
I believe that there won't be any performance advantages regarding the fact that it is a 64 bit device?

Thanks
fufu

Here is a good site to compare devices. Granted it doesn't have everything, but it does show some good numbers to base decisions from.

Re: Nvidia Tegra K1 Performance

I too desire some data as I'm going to purchase either a Nexus 9 or Nvidia Shield tablet soon. Also, would like some input as to whether the quad-core Nvidia Shield would be a better WCG performer than the Nexus 9 (cores/work unit)?

Re: Nvidia Tegra K1 Performance

At the moment the Shield would be best as it's still on Kitkat and has 4 32 bit cores rather than 2 64 bit cores (so your runtime would be higher - although your throughput would be slightly lower)

BOINC is a non starter on Lollipop which is the Nexus 9 OS from the get go.

My Nexus 5, updated to 5.0.1 OTA. is rendered useless for number crunching for the WCG

Anyone using the very latest from Google can't use their moby or tablet as a Winter Hand Warmer this season.

Here's to hoping it will get fixed in 2015

Tegra is great, but only when soft is write special for tegra, if not tegra doesn't work well.

Re: Nvidia Tegra K1 Performance

Hi

Anyone out there crunching on a Nexus 9?

BOINC released a client that will run with Lollipop and WCG have work units for both OET and FAH that will run on Lollipop now

I was just wondering if anyone had managed to get the Nexus 9 crunching for the WCG

My Nexus 5 with 5.0.1 has been back crunching for a while with some success.

Re: Nvidia Tegra K1 Performance

Yep. I bought a Nexus 9 in December and since the new version runs at Lollipop, I'm crunching on it.

I can't really tell about the performance, because it differs from workunit to workunit. But at least it seems faster than the snapdragon 800 in my Nexus 5.
