Re: No tasks are availabe - [RESOLVED - need 32 bit libs on linux]

Sorry for the false alert, as it was my own doing. A config setting of the agent which stops 32 bit apps.

Re: No tasks are availabe - [RESOLVED - need 32 bit libs on linux]

I had the same issue on two 64-bit linux systems. Even installing the 32-bit libraries didn't help to solve the problem.
I've added the following to the <options> area in cc_config.xml and restarted boinc:
<alt_platform>i686-pc-linux-gnu</alt_platform>
<no_alt_platform>0</no_alt_platform>

This worked for me. Requesting boinc to reread cc_config.xml is not sufficient. Boinc must be restarted.
After that I'm receiving CEP2 wu on my 64-bit Linux.

Re: No tasks are availabe - [RESOLVED - need 32 bit libs on linux]

Here's a message I never expected to see:

R1-DQuadX

13675 World Community Grid 12/9/2014 7:59:22 PM Reporting 1 completed tasks
13676 World Community Grid 12/9/2014 7:59:22 PM Requesting new tasks for CPU
13677 World Community Grid 12/9/2014 7:59:25 PM Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
13678 World Community Grid 12/9/2014 7:59:25 PM No tasks sent
13679 World Community Grid 12/9/2014 7:59:25 PM No tasks are available for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2
13680 World Community Grid 12/9/2014 7:59:25 PM No tasks are available for the applications you have selected.
13681 World Community Grid 12/9/2014 7:59:25 PM Tasks are committed to other platforms

It's a twin and the other system is getting tasks just fine.
Guess I'll monitor it and see if it's just a lull in the feeder.

Hi,

From our side, there should be plenty of jobs to go around!

Re: No tasks are available

I have had the same problem on one of my machines for the last few hours (Win7 64-bit, BOINC 7.4.35 x64). I am sure that it is basically a problem with the BOINC scheduler and/or server side issues. The machine ran fine on CEP2 as the only project for months with no scheduling problems, as do two others.

However, for the past several weeks I have also run Climate Prediction Network (CPDN) on the problem machine, and those work units take up days of time. The scheduler could handle it OK for the first few weeks, but CPDN ran out of new work yesterday, and as the cores on my i5-3550 finished up the old work, they would no longer download CEP2 to take their place. So I ended up with one core on CPDN, another core on CEP2, and the other two cores free. No amount of manual update requests would get me more CEP2 work.

1222 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:54:02 AM Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
1223 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:54:02 AM Requesting new tasks for CPU
1224 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:54:04 AM Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
1225 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:54:04 AM No tasks sent
1226 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:54:04 AM No tasks are available for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2
1227 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:54:04 AM No tasks are available for the applications you have selected.
1228 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:56:05 AM Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
1229 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:56:05 AM Requesting new tasks for CPU
1230 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:56:06 AM Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
1231 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:56:06 AM No tasks sent
1232 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:56:06 AM No tasks are available for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2
1233 World Community Grid 12/14/2014 6:56:06 AM No tasks are available for the applications you have selected.

But to provide a temporary fix, I selected "If there is no work available for the project(s) I have selected above, please send me work from another project." in the WCG Device Profile for that machine, and immediately downloaded a couple of MCM and FAAH tasks. I expect that CEP2 will come along later.

The problems with the BOINC scheduler are legion, the solutions few.
