Since yesterday my phone is no longer connecting to the WCG servers. The internet on the phone is fine, and BOINC does have internet access. However, it keeps saying that there's no connection when I click on WCG and tap Update. I know there was some maintenance recently, so did something change after that?

Can only say my tablet connected fine after the upgrade and has succeeded to complete the first ebola (OET) workunit. Maybe try powercycle to refresh all connections.
----------------------------------------One thought, if you have BOINC set to only connect when on WIFI, your internet connection over data 3G/4G may still work. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 12, 2015 8:38:46 AM] |

Thanks. But weirdly it fixed after about 3 hours of trying every so often to connect. I don't know why. Thanks for your help :)

5 days now since my phones will process any work, all I get is "computation error". Went through this crap a little over a year ago, why can't they leave it alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Not sure what the problem has to do with 'connection' issues, but unless you have Android 4.1 and up, that's what you get with the latest builds FAHV and OET on Android. Now devices must have Position Independent Executable capable OS versions.

1/2 the time I can't connect to the server. So...new update kicks out a huge chunk of people processing WUs with phones....real intelligent move. Guess if you don't want to use a $500+ phone to crunch with then you're not good enough. Nevermind that I have (and I'm sure there are countless hundreds more out there) about $1200 worth of cell phones that use to crunch 24/7 and now get nothing. Thanks.
----------------------------------------![]() This makes the second and last time my phones have been rendered useless. I will never again bother loading BOINC on a phone. ![]() Wonder how long it'll be before my 2,4,8,16 and 24 core computers won't be good enough?

I felt the same way when the new project versions that only work on 4.1 and up were released. We were led to believe there would be non-PIE units for 4.0 and below to crunch and then all of a sudden, all my older devices started receiving errors. I knew what the problem was right away and have since rooted and installed Cyanogenmod 10 on one device and Cyanogenmod 11 on another. I still have my MK802II to update so that it can be up and running again. I still see a lot of work units out there receiving errors for my devices' wing mates, which must mean that there's quite a bit of people running 4.0 and below that have not realized their devices are no longer supported by the new project versions. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by olivaresanthony at Feb 17, 2015 4:00:48 PM] |

"quite a bit of people running 4.0"
The number of 250 devices was mentioned somewhere, which was the stated reason to drop the ball and not set up a dual stream [as the latest Berkeley server code can]. Elsewhere is posted recent global Android stats from Berkeley, even across projects <=4.0.n participation is small. The upgrades/uptakes of 5.0 have been disappointing too... 6-8 weeks it's been available and the take is under 2 percent. http://www.cnet.com/news/android-kitkat-eats-...ipop-still-off-the-radar/ and http://www.forbes.com/sites/ewanspence/2015/0...s-using-android-lollipop/ Einstein appears to have done same, only supports PIE app, NEONPIE as it is called. 211695957 11745898 10 Feb 2015 19:45:10 UTC 11 Feb 2015 17:15:05 UTC Completed and validated 24,357.89 23,122.18 78.58 62.50 Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo) v1.46 (NEONPIE) |
