Re: What motherboard, CPU and RAM would you recommend?

Does anyone know for a fact if it's possible to use these cards for WCG crunching and are there any downsides to this, apart from the 300W?

Re: What motherboard, CPU and RAM would you recommend?

Don't see how 300 watts for running a couple hundred WU is a downside verses 200 watts for my 12 wu... In fact retiring my 30 wu combined crunchers which use 400 plus watts makes 300 watts seem like a DEAL!

Re: What motherboard, CPU and RAM would you recommend?

True, if we intended to buy just one. But we all know that wouldn't be enough.

What I'm wondering about is if WCG or the projects need to do some special programming, or if these cards automatically work as x86 coprocessors, like in a dual processor workstation?

EDIT: The answer to my question seems to be, the card's cores don't automatically show up in the OS as extra cores. Programming is needed.

Re: What motherboard, CPU and RAM would you recommend?

I received my computer back from the shop after 5 days. I was told they changed the Asus Rampage V extreme motherboard for a new one and it ran flawlessly for them for 2 days 24 7 with a combination of burn in one and continual boot looping to make sure it wasn't going to give error 61 on start up again. I have not had any issues at this stage.

Great to hear. It happens. Let us know the ppd that 8 core monster does. Wish it didn't cost so much for that chip. Could get 2 5820k hex chips for less than that 1 8 core but after the rest of the of the parts, be pretty high.

Re: What motherboard, CPU and RAM would you recommend?

Please find the last 7 days of my statistics below. Currently working on the fight AIDS at home. Runs just over half a day every day (12 hours) averages between 7 and 8 days when running completely for W CG. Apologies for the layout if it is not clear. Roughly 3/4 of an hour for the longer tasks. Some tasks have run around the half-hour mark

Re: What motherboard, CPU and RAM would you recommend?

Jack007, I exaggerated. One would have been enough. For now.

Speedy51, I still don't understand. Find the last seven days?
