Everybody noticed the major upward changes to FA@H and OET1, but CEP2 progress was adjusted too... down from 72 to 66%. Hazarding a date, it moved to 8 months later

As for "the speed of the operations doubles every year in CPUs", actually Moore predicted every 2 years [but somewhat stalling]. My old faithfull is now in it's 9th year and doing OET. It has not doubled in speed in that near decade ;P [In fact, the computed FPOPS contributed to WCG have been rather submarinish [see right top insert on http://bit.ly/WCGFPY ]. Maybe if CEP2 were compiled with SSE2, as with UGM, we could get 20x speed, but doubt the hard-disk can keep up  neither my old faithful 15y old got any faster...but new computers are being "born" every minute... also, you graph shows only how science is calculated per core...you're forgetting that we have multi-cores now...some are slower, but a new box with quad-core makes 4jobs in the same amount of time as a single-core does 1job...not to mention that W also goes down!  |
