Hey Gerald. I live on top of a hill and it is about 300 feet down and a half mile in distance to the Paluxy River. So I am safe as far as rising water is concerned. We have had lines of thunderstorms (sometimes multiple) pass over us nearly every day. Generally these have high winds and lots of lightning. There have been quite a few Tornadoes around this part of Texas but none terribly close. The cloud that created one about 15 miles East of us came right over us and we were near our safe room for an hour or so. Pretty darned rough. The wind broke probably a dozen trees; some of which I have dealt with. One blocking the driveway.

Yesterday afternoon, the water stopped running across my driveway for the first time in a week. Yes there are culverts under there (3) but they could not get it all. Anyway, It has been unusual to say the least. We have had about 5" of rain over our normal yearly total in these first 5 months.

Things seem to have calmed down now and in another couple of days I will challenge even my big "Bad Boy" ZTR mower. I have not been able to mow due to the saturated ground and the weight of that big mower...it is useless and makes a giant mess in the mud. On dry ground I can mow a lot in a short period of time.

A very long-winded way of saying Hi Gerald. We are all fine if a little damp and will get our place back in shape if we can get a few more days without a downpour. Regards old friends.

Is North Dakota home, roots or something else? I've got a nephew wrapping up an aviation degree at UND.
