Hi Everyone,
I am currently planning on building a computer for someone and 'tentatively', they are willing to run WCG on it 24/7 for me. In return I will pay for the hardware. Looking through the FAQ, I found the marketing toolkit and will send some links from that to help them understand what is involved. However, I am blocked from using youtube and I want to find a video which sells WCG in a decent light without getting too technical and is also fairly short. Has anyone found one like that? If so, could you post the link and I'll check it out when I get back onto a decent internet connection? Cheers! |

I did the same a couple of years ago, showed them the WCG screensaver, told them that Boinc wouldn't interfere with their use, and that I could 'turn it down a bit' remotely if need be.
I also showed them the current power costs of 33 pence (UK) per day if left on 24/7, and mentioned cancer research. The (i5) machine still runs today. Set at 40%, cpu allowed during use. Don't forget if it's running 24/7 it's going to need 3-monthly visits with a vacuum cleaner. :-) |

Did not realize there's areas where whole or part of Youtube gets blocked, but now I see where [apart from a company connection], some regions have controlled access. This one is OK, wont say the best: "System Idle Process" or "How and When World Community Grid runs"
Hit Ctrl+Shft+Esc not Ctrl+Alt+Del to see Task Manager on Windows... My Contribution is still called "My Grid" in those videos. |

it's blocked on my workplace connection and I don't have the bandwidth on my mobile device to watch youtube videos at the moment. It's kind of an annoying situation!

You can go and download Adblock Plus or Comment Blocker at the Google Chrome web store. You can use Adblock to selectively filter the comment section or Comment Blocker, which will obscure it from view automatically.
