Re: Hunting Tool 3.0K build 33.14

Make the Hunting Tool Greater Again, The Greatest, The Best laughing , the '1 map fits all' solution allowed for another planned piece to be implemented. Where before on the main view all devices that have an active result error are highlighted in red (with an result error count), clicking on the device name gets the user jumped to the ResErr summary report applicable line, to show the result with it's error code and then clicking on that being jumped to the first result of that device with that error for full record detail. Now that last step condenses the view to list all results with that particular error (many 194's at this moment sad ) This as another step in preparation of ripping out more complicating code and intermediate sheet copying.

Yes, only the best is left :O))))))

Re: Hunting Tool 3.0K build 33.14

Wrote this in another thread some 6 months ago, after which I was enlighted to what it was called ... FTTC (Fiber to the cabinet).
** The fiber-optic line is at the main road 1.2km down the hill, and "really too far" as the TIM guy said], while they were testing the possibles and 'training' the old copper line... well now we have 14MB max according Ooklas Speedtest measuring to Toronto instead of the old 7MB stable... and for less money. The house close to the cabinet where the fiber comes up at the rail line has supposedly 58MB i.e. the degradation over the 1.2km [straight distance on map] is big over the copper tel.line.

Today had the tech come in as the intertubes kept disappearing, and learned it was not 1.2KM, yes in birds flight, but following the road, it was near 3KM to the fiber cabinet (and by coincidence saw on Sunday, yes on Sunday, they were fibering up the whole of the sette colli, that we might even get FTTH in some not too distant future. They were under contract to finish the works of laying the pinkish bundle by end of July, and asked if he was not frying in the heatwave that's been continuing now in it's 7th week (Rome has been put on water rationing now). He was, but not delivering would cost him a bundle.

Anyways, the tech came in and measured 20MB up until the downstairs power cabinet, he was not so happy these were side to side with the telco copper wire, lots of interference recorded, so he laid a new one, needing soap to get them through the proper tubes, and 3 hours later after also replacing an old funky plug box, circa 1970, with some slightly bloated resistor, the guy, originally from Russia, delivered 22MB, sustained. dancing

Long story, it made not 1 iota difference in the speed to fetch the result status pages... still 90 pages x250 in 1 minute 41, (yesterday was 89 pages in 1 minute 39) the ASCII XML that comes across suffers just from the internet latency, as that per Ookla Speedtest had not changed a millisecond. straight face

Other than that, the tool is kicking a$$.

Re: Hunting Tool 3.0K build 33.14

Coining a new ranking measure: RAR (Recent Average Rank)

The formula: =AVERAGE(INDEX(Rankings,1,2,1):INDEX(Rankings,30,4,1))

What's in it? Points+Results+Runtime.

Why? Because I can biggrin (A weighting of the 3 battle grounds)

Where?: Only WCG

Printed in my sig, and copyrighted laughing

(Trend-indicator is something to add, and yes, momentarily east of the UTC dateline ;o)

Re: Hunting Tool 2.0

A smitchen of hope with the latest 365 insider monthly release
"Work faster, get more done
New in Excel

Bring on those complex workbooks with multiple sheets. Excel opens faster so you can crunch formulas with large ranges, filter lots of rows, or copy and paste faster."

But no, total, complete hype, no details found what it is supposed to really mean, but did confirm that the before and after filtering is still "Not all items showing" and still the same 10,000 limit. Though there are near 1 million records on the active archive over past 15 days, only the 11, 13, 14th, partially show up in the quick-filter screen, forcing to dive into the 'advanced custom search' (which they kindly removed from Outlook 'because it was used by few', yes you read that right.

Calculation very marginally seemed to have sped up, but only if you stopwatch, else you'd not notice, a complete script encompassing all elements of the noted hype ran 3% faster, still random crashing with small or big data sets, just when you think they've resolved the (too) 'complex' problem. sad

Re: Hunting Tool 35.12

Low and behold, got a stable version with Office 365, 1708 8341-2079 insider build. Something bugging since long, and 'almost always' after completing a concatenated web scrape, but now learned by coincidence that having EnableEvents set to false just prior to the critical sections, such as the simple Thisworkbook.Save, prevents certain workbook level event calls to be triggered... the FullCalcRebuild BeforeFileSave event for instance. It just does not like doing it right after complex operations and crashes Excel altogether... not anymore if foregone or suppressed.

dancing

(I do rub it in a lot on the MS Office Feedback hub channel, to keep their attention... one getting 187 votes, certainly seems to have struck a nerve :)))))

Re: Hunting Tool 35.12

Not much has happened since the demise of my development system, the end of the WCG charting effort, but the tool is happily running, now having accumulated over 125,000 results in the archive... lots of data to pour over and analyse.

This week added RAR (Recent Average Ranking), to the history and worked further on integrating Device Stats with Device Profiles and Device Merge, that piece that pulls together all the clients installed on one host. From this it shows my octo has accumulated over 22 years of runtime since procurement, 3 years ago, not quite the max which could have been 24+ years, but still it ran historically over 7.3 days per day. smile
