Weird calculations towards awarding BOINC Credits

In the past few days I've seen some strange behaviour in awarding credits for work done.
For those who are interested:

Result names:
[1] E235168_87_S.294.C22F9H6N5O5.JXKMBHLOMYZXNP-UHFFFAOYSA-N.4_s1_14_0--
[2] E235157_306_S.296.C31H16N10O3.NNZGALYNKREGJK-UHFFFAOYSA-N.17_s1_14_0--

Result Status:
[1] Valid 09/12/15 05:43:19 09/12/15 22:11:57 2.92 / 3.28 237.2 / 237.2
[2] Valid 08/12/15 04:27:56 09/12/15 05:43:19 9.90 / 10.93 117.9 / 117.9

As one can see, WU '1' ran for ± 3,5 hours, while WU '2' did the job in 11 hours, three times as long as WU '1'. On the same host, same computer load.
Despite WU 2's long running time of 11 hours, WU 1 was granted twice as much Credit as WU 2. (Even though WU 1 bailed out with a 'No space left on device' error Job #6.)

I find it disap-point-ing to be honest. :-}

Even stranger is the fact that WU 1 claims to be Valid. Here is a snippet from WU 1:

Re: Weird calculations towards awarding BOINC Credits

Credit[points] does not interest me one iota, poorl entertainment value too, it may very well be that in top result there were e.g. 6 jobs in 3.5 hours, and in the second 3 in 11. If then the device did 117 credit on the earlier, and 2 times more jobs in the former, you get double the points [divorced from the time element]. Other than that, there's a random-dicer in the machine... and Bond, James and Largo, Maximillian are on the joysticks... the joysticks are 'powered' ;O)))))

Re: Weird calculations towards awarding BOINC Credits

This would not be the only project to have seemingly random number of points granted for no apparent reason. I would agree with SekeRob* on the whole points issue. It is interesting to note however that result #1 has a much smaller molecule (C22) versus result #2 (C31). Probably partially explains the time difference, but has nothing to do with points difference.
Cheers

This was investigated and no irregularities were found with the credits. Please let us know if anyone else experiences this issue.

Thank you,

Re: Weird calculations towards awarding BOINC Credits

To rephrase ErikaT's response a little bit. No unexpected irregularities were found with the credit. What this means is that the credit awarding mechanism has some peculiarities that are known, and this falls within the realm of those known peculiarities.

Thanks for examining this. Appreciate the reply. Still seems strange, but as you said
this falls within the realm of those known peculiarities.
