Although I know some will strongly disagree with me, what would be a nice touch whilst there's such a short number of WU's to go around, is for a restriction to be put on the number of WU's/core (say, a maximum of 2 WU's/core)
----------------------------------------The work would still get done (after all, the demand far outstrips supply - in fact, it might get done quicker, as people would then be keen to push work to the front of their queue), whilst allowing more people to participate in this project. Also, it wouldn't punish the mega crunchers - as they'd still be able to grab more WU's due to them having more cores available. ![]() |

What is the point of having "Badges" for Help Stop TB if the only people who can earn the badges are the ones to whom BOINC mysteriously grants work units? Those of us who are denied HST1 WU are forced to seek other Projects in order to satisfy the wish to participate and must therefore forgo the Badges. So where am I of base? Best I can tell though, without the micro-managing on your part & the willingness to have lost opportunities (what my computer could have been working on all day) you're stuck with just getting the occasional random work unit. Is it worth all that extra work? That's something only you can decide. True, I'm going to keep plugging away at it, but it's frustrating as all get out. but I got 5 work units when I manually did it at 35 (I was late) So they can be had. I may die of old age (or bad habits) before I get 5 years though. Honestly, I really not that worried about the zika virus, but one computers remote so no HSTB, another one they all errored out, so one computer to snag some..... So I'll have 5 years of zika before I hit sapphire on HSTB.... On the bright side, eventually they will have enough work units so other puters can pick em up. ![]() |

As one of the techs just announced, the amount of available work for this project was doubled from 100 to 200 units per 30 minutes, which reflects how much the scientists are able to generate as offspring from returned work [dependencies]. Monitoring the stats, the 7 day mean was about 11,500 units returned per day which on doubling implies 20-22000 units available per day as of now. This limit is set to allow a continuous, albeit 30 minute interval stream, rather than dump all available work, nothing for X hours, dump and so on, meaning in weekends there's going to be nothing... the work generation process is manual!
Edit: added underscore, oh and each of those 200/30 minutes is copy 2 i.e. really 400 including wingman, which than translates so somewhere near 20 years of computing time per day. /ot |

Well, despite the challenges with this project, I've now reached my Gold badge.
