I am currently doing the same thing with 8 cores, targeting OET along with HST. I might get 3 HST WU in 24 hours but sometimes get zero.

Yeap, I'm on the same road as you guys... OET+HST. What I do is fill up the queue with 24 hrs of OET then deselect OET and only leave HST. Once a HST WU pops in, I go back and select OET again (HST is not my priority right now... I'm on a very long trip to diamond for OET). I get about 1 HST WU per day this way.

I'm not sure I understand why we only get a few HST at a time, but here is what I think is happening. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. It's important that you crunch at least one other project in addition to HST. I'm doing OET, and this keeps my computers busy since OET WU are plentiful. Every so often, my client does a search for new WU, and if some HST are available I get them. Thus, I need to do searches relatively often in order to pick up the HST. By crunching other projects besides HST, I increase the probability that I'll snag one or more HST, because I do searches more often. If possible, the other projects need to have relatively short completion times. In my case, OET WU come with a deadline out 1.07 hours. I don't have the experience or smarts to create scripts to control my searches for new WU, so I'm letting BOINC control the searches for me. read previous pages here on this topic, about project work creation!  |

I read all of the pages in this thread, and then I changed my searching for new WU to bring in only HST instead of both HST and OET. Wow, what a difference! During the night, while I was asleep, I got 20-30 HST. This morning I fine tuned my memory assignments, between busy and not busy with other work, to prevent my crunching from being memory limited.  |

when I am just HSTB, I run dry
----------------------------------------I have been doing the 3 min 33 min (when I remember) I got 10 and 11, the 2 times I remembered today... Not enuf to get me through a week, more like a day and a half, so back to fA@H plus HSTB while I journey on for a week. EDIT: Didn't make 10 for AIDS last time, no excuse it was running for years.... I took for granted that it would go on and on. So THIS time, I keep a remote computer working non stop on AIDS, and I'll use home computer to crunch out new projects to 5 years. Allen, see how easy it was to get HSTB WUs? Yep. The secret is to do both HST and another project to build up a surplus of the other project and then to run only HST until the surplus is not quite gone. When you're getting only HST, you won't get WU every search, and the surplus of the other project will keep your computer busy. I just checked, and I had about 12 or 13 HST WU come in in about 12 actual hours. During that 12 hours, I also finished quite a few OET (I don't know exactly how many). During the past 24 hours (actual time) I've gotten about 30 HST. A lot better than the 2 or 3 I was getting. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Allen008 at Apr 29, 2016 4:40:56 AM] |

OK, I should say I run dry whether just HSTB or with another project...

No wonder I can't get any HST WUs. Everybody else is hoarding them. I have been waiting for 3 days for someone to finish a _0. I finished the _1 the same day I got it.

No wonder I can't get any HST WUs. Everybody else is hoarding them. I have been waiting for 3 days for someone to finish a _0. I finished the _1 the same day I got it. Guys, minimum June 2017...or more constant ECD is Dec 2017! So, you got "plenty of time" to do research... My computers are in a hunt for MCM 20yD...so I don't get much HST (if any)...don't really care, 'cause next hunt after that is OET for 10y D before Christmas 2016...& then I still got plenty of time to do HST only & FAHB till 2y (need about 1/2 a year)... So keep it patient! |
