Re: Mapping Cancer Markers project update, April 2016

There's an ethical issue with all this... if only health insurance companies could get their hands on that 'predictive' information. Suddenly you could find you/family member being the cause of not being able to insure or find balloon premiums. One reason for collective insurance and collective bargaining, something that Obamacare may have already catered for... no cherry picking covering by the insurers. (Maybe worth a separate thread discussion as views on this between US stateside and other 'old continent' widely differ.)

It is an excellent question, and raises economic as well as ethical issues. For the economics to work right, you would also not want the insured to "cherry pick" and buy insurance only after they suspect that they are susceptible to the disease. At least that would tend to be the U.S. view, though it varies widely even within the U.S. (and very loudly, too).

EDIT: Obamacare may take care of the issue for those covered, but it still is implemented via private health plans, and I don't think they have to cover every condition, though I am not an expert on that.

I believe that there has only been one GPU project on WCG. It started off as CPU only and then they added GPU to the mix. It was a cancer project; Help Conquer Cancer.

I am donating the full time processing power of two Dell 2950 III servers (dual quad cores in both, running at 3.16 ghz)

Primary cause for picking your project, the love of my life died of cancer 32 years ago, at age 32. Hopefully your research will someday prevent this from happening to others!

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers project update, April 2016

Hi,
Is this project going to have more research targets in addition to Ovarian added? Or will this be the last one?

Hello,
The MCM research team is working on a project update right now. We passed along your question to them, and they responded that they would address this question in the next project update.

Thank you for your support,
ErikaT

My emphasis, and as so in-famously is often written on forums "did I miss anything" on the social media channels or elsewhere?

Tomorrow 3 weeks passed since, and here and there some panic developing over "what's after with WCG's impending collapse, if nothing of substance will be put in place if MCM does finish sending out the last new work, in 2 weeks?"
