I have the new i9 7980XE with 18 cores and 36 threads. The OS recognizes all cores/threads just fine, so does CPUZ. In the BOINC Event Log it only recognizes 32 threads and so it only folds using 32 threads. Any idea why that is?

Just set the local computing prefs to 100% and save. If that does not work, add <ncpus>36</ncpus> as option in a (possibly to be created) cc_config.xml to force it, the restart of the client required, or re-read config file on the Options menu. The cc_config.xml manual you find at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration
----------------------------------------PS, the web device manager profile, custom section, could also be set to 100% of processors / On multiprocessors, at most use: 36 processors. Then you also need to hit update at left in the BOINC manager projects view after selecting WCG. [Edit 3 times, last edit by SekeRob* at Nov 24, 2017 5:16:17 PM] |

Thanks for your response SekeRob. Just to clarify, I need to create the config file but do I only need to input the ncpu line or do I need to add settings for everything?

Scratch that. I just saw that the file is in the data folder not the program folder. I made your suggested change and it is now using all 36 threads. Thanks a bunch!

Under windows, User configurable files are not supposed to be in the program folder, which is why Programdata was created,
