Hi all. I have 2 bare Virtual Machines, each running on different physical boxes but using the exact same CPU which is the Intel Xeon Gold 6140 and each VM is utilizing 32 CPUs. Win16 is crunching the Mapping Cancer Markers WUs at about 2:40 each while the Win12 is running them at 4:30 or longer! This is obviously a huge performance difference. It is happening on 100% of all WUs which currently are about 100 WUs (per system) so I know this is not a simple comparison that 1 set of WUs are a lot harder to crunch than another set of WUs.
----------------------------------------I do not think Win16 was that much faster than Win12 but maybe there is something going on at the hypervisor level/technology inside Win16 that is making it perform so much faster? The only other item I could think about is that the Win12 VM is sitting on a bare metal device that is being utilized more heavily than the Win16. But, "the cloud" service I am using shouldn't allow some server to be so over-utilized that other VMs perform at 50% of their performance. Right? Overall I could believe there would be up to a 15% performance given different OSes and possibly some lightly-over-utilized VMWare bare metal Server but 50% is crazy. I believe Intel makes a CPU speed testing app and will install it on both systems and get a log result. Thanks in advance if you have seen this before! ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by ericinboston at Sep 7, 2018 2:13:39 AM] |

well boinc does provide a speed/performance test, you can read the logs!
