If the problem is to porting the code on windows, a solution may be to open the code to community and request help.
A lot of projects takes benefits from volunteer developers |

Here are a few updates on where we are in the process of launching the first climate project:
We understand that some volunteers may be frustrated, and we do apologize the for any inconvenience. We are just as eager to get the first climate project launched. Thank you, Jonathan |

The software that the researchers need to use for the project has never been used the way we are attempting to use it. As far as we are aware, there is no other software the researchers can use. The dev team has uncovered bugs in this software that have nothing to do with porting it to Windows. (There are bugs within the software itself.) Releasing a Linux-only version will not be helpful, in this case. Yes, Thanks for the update. But now you have piqued my curiosity. If it is possible, could you reveal the software which you putting to a new and novel use ? If you can't, I understand, just thought I would ask. Cheers

Ok so this software is Linux only ? and has bugs ?
----------------------------------------Is the software usable in Cygwin or some other cross platform tool ? Is the software : Open development ? Is the software doing something particularly useful ? Is the software doing something unique ? What are the aims of the software.. What function does the software serve ? Is any IBM Software utility or data to be used, For example the weather company or Watson SDK on IBM Cloud. If these answers can lead to the use of less buggy standardised code then a swap is recommended, Indeed advised! Simply to save money, Time and Compute time.. Particularly when the projects have to integrate with IBM Cloud Data & Platform Applications. Regards RS [Edit 1 times, last edit by QuantumEthos at May 1, 2019 2:59:21 PM] |

Quantum...see the above quote. My emphasis. My question is: Are the three climate projects being developed/prepared in parallel or in sequence (i.e., are the other two projects waiting for the successful development of the first project)? Thanks. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by supdood at May 1, 2019 4:29:52 PM] |

Thanks. Possibly , seems illogical ... :/ **** If the matter is the number of cores & ram , Simply address the issue to 4+ core computers, While multi core issues & High ram usage are issues .. a lot of our highest members have the configuration for us! Simply ask them & do a pole https://news.un.org/en/story/2019/05/1038521 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/research/climate.action |

I would assume the issues more focus around trying to split up the job into tasks, since most programers wouldn't even think of grid computing when developing their code. And if the scientists are trying to do something novel that hadn't been imagined before due to the massive computing power needed, there probably wouldn't be any "off the shelf" program that they could use (there has to be a customer before someone makes something). Trust me, I want these projects as much as anyone, but we need to cut them some slack, this is tough work done by a small team. This reaction is exactly why they never tell us things in advance when possible, because the nature of the work is unprecedented and unpredictable
