Re: WCG for Windows process not starting up

Been there, tried that, keeps restoring the original settings somehow. And in any case, you can't seriously be suggesting that users of WCG mess around with their registry settings to stop Win 10 updates because WCG has a problem somehow related to Win 10 updates? In what universe is the average user going to be willing to do that?

Re: WCG for Windows process not starting up

Patch management and timely installation of security updates is critical to ensuring a system is minimally secure. Microsoft has adopted a monthly cumulative rolling patch system, which includes a security update rollup. Missing this security update every month is foolhardy and a dangerous recommendation.

[Edit: It's possible I misread nanoprobe (sorry! totally apologize if that's true!). Disabling automatic reboots is very reasonable, and I despise a lot of what Microsoft has done with Windows 10. Windows 10 Home, Professional, whatever. MUCH less control to the user and MUCH more telemetry and a constant connection back to Microsoft.]

Anyways, @Akerbeltz, you're still doing fine with your 64-bit install of WCG right? I think someone just bumped this thread. [Edit: nanoprobe bumped it on June 26. Can't see anything since June 16 that indicates you're still having issues with WCG not auto-starting.]

I was just offering a suggestion that might cure your problem. What you or anyone else decides to do with the info is up to you/them. Why yours keeps going back to update settings I have no idea. I did 2 of my grandkids laptops without issues. This is a perfect example of MS taking away your rights to control your own computer and to that I tell them KMA.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. 99%+ of the so called security updates are for business/enterprise users and are of virtually no use the the home PC user. That's the truth whether you choose to believe it or not. All they do is add more bloat.

Spot on. I have no doubts whatsoever that MS is spying on everything a Win10 user does. IMO it's just spyware disguised as an OS.
