The slower APU Linux machine finsihed crunching one beta WU in 53.5 hours compared to 22 - 23 hours on my FX8350 machine. All 3 WU's received completed and validated.

Well I cannot change it unless you get the EPEL team to change it for RHEL6.10 distribution. OTOH, it seems to have noticed that file I put in there as the readings shown by boink_manager would not have changed, would they? Maybe if you check a later version EPEL repo such as ver 7.6 , you may be able to install a newer client since the disto's are the same. I use Fedora, ver 30 now (the latest), which provides boinc ver 7.14.2. RH has recently released RHEL8 which is close to the latest version of Fedora. EDIT: I just checked EPEL 7 on the RedHat server and they also have boinc 7.14.2, just download the rpm and use yum or rpm to install it and all should work but be sure to stop the client prior to install. One task that I restarted has turned into Pending Verification:
----------------------------------------BETA_ ARP1_ 0001872_ 000_ 1-- That seems to indicate there's a problem with restarting. ![]() |

Are file uploads being limited on the server/storage side to 5 simultaneous transfers? Large servers with a large number of threads could end up with a potential upload backlog depending on upload bandwidth. This can be really a problem on asymmetric connections. In addition, if there is an ongoing issue with the storage units or network to the storage units, how does this test impact that problem? Or is the DB on a different storage unit from the upload/download area?
----------------------------------------UPDATE: I withdraw my question concerning simultaneous transfers as I was able to get 8 going at the same time which is the maximum set in the cc_config file. However, it does saturate the upload bandwidth and any other project that ends while they are uploading will time out. I have a relatively slow connection at 10mbs down but only 2mbs up. May have to manage this for the next 60 days until the faster connection gets installed. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Doneske at Jun 1, 2019 8:42:05 PM] |

Let's hope that the techs are kind enough to assign all those WUs that were given just 31.7 points something higher before they are taken off the system ...

WOW! I had 4 tasks finish. They started uploading a few minutes after 100%. But, the files are huge! 6 large files, each between 15MB and 25MB. On my old country DSL, this takes about 25 minutes to upload each task's data. Two of my tasks finished, and last I looked, one is valid and the other is awaiting validation. I do not know anything about the uploaded files, but my data link is: Date Download Upload IP Address Test Server Export All Results 6/1/2019 4:43:44 PM 82.44 Mbps 88.74 Mbps 100.35.165.125 New York City, NY 4/13/2019 1:23:45 PM 82.27 Mbps 4.42 Mbps 100.35.165.125 Los Angeles, CA 4/13/2019 1:22:56 PM 83.37 Mbps 3.66 Mbps 100.35.165.125 Seattle, WA 4/13/2019 1:21:50 PM 85.29 Mbps 72.38 Mbps 100.35.165.125 New York City, NY 2/12/2019 9:42:27 AM 82.23 Mbps 65.30 Mbps 100.35.165.125 New York City, NY so uploading is not a problem except the backbone seems a little slow from here in New Jersey to the west of the Mississippi. The delay between when the time to complete reaches zero, and when the files are uploaded is long enough to make me wonder if something broke, but it did not break. ![]() |

I have only processed one re-send to arbitrate between the original work units which were pending verification. I did not perform any restarts but I did hibernate my PC overnight.
My main concern about these work units is the time between checkpoints - on my PC (I7-6700) it is nearly 3 hours. I believe this should be reduced to nearer 15 minutes. The long time between checkpoints may be OK for those using Linux who can run 24/7 or hibernate the PC overnight for weeks at a time. However when using Windows and hibernating the PC overnight it is not as simple - in the past month there have been three Windows updates and at least one anti-virus software update which have necessitated a restart of the PC. |

I look in /var/log/boinc_client.log but find nothing about checkpoints, although two work units have completed and uploaded their final results. ![]() |
