Hello all,
----------------------------------------We're switching to email-based login in order to bring World Community Grid into closer alignment with the process used by other BOINC projects. (And for new volunteers, an email-based signup process cuts down on the number of fields required for initial registration.)

Is there a precise time (either local or UTC) when the switch will occur?
Will there be a time period when both login identities will work? |

All the automated log-in page scrapers will love you for this. Still cant use the API to fetch MY data unless MY data is made public. Can't be something covered under GDPR.

A few questions:
1) Is this just related to the Login, or will our Usernames go away completely? 2) If the later, will everyone be seeing all users Email addresses in the forums? This may be confusing for users, if they know others by their username. 3) What does this mean if we need to change email addresses - for instance, I literally just started up again last night, after a 5 year BOINC hiatus, and realized I had registered with an older email I rarely ever use, and may delete, so I changed it. Will users still be able to change their email after this goes into effect? |

After the switch to email-based log ins has been made, members will still be able to change their email addresses (after logging in to their member account). |

So after August 28, login will require using your email address (instead of user name) plus password to login. Is that how it works?

Will there be a time period when both login identities will work? The existing "Forgot Username" feature will be replaced with "Forgot email address" and you will be able to enter in your username and password and get your email address. You can then use that email address and your password to login. |
