Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

Dear World Community Grid volunteers,

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Africa Rainfall Project. As the project’s title suggests, our team of researchers aims to harness the computing power donated by volunteers around the globe to help create high-resolution computer simulations of localized rainstorms in sub-Saharan Africa.

This project differs from previous work because we’ll be able run simulations at a much higher resolution thanks to the massive power of World Community Grid, and this higher resolution is exactly what’s needed for localized rainstorms. Ultimately, our goal is to have data that can lead to more accurate rainfall forecasts for sub-Saharan Africa.

Thanks to everyone for your support.

Professor Nick van de Giesen

No.

The project is already very heavy for a PC, let alone an Android.

Minimum System Requirements for all projects can be found here: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq

Please be sure your system can handle the ginormous-ness of this new project before signing up.

When checkpoints are as rare as honest politicians BOINC is in bad need of a "Suspend at Next Checkpoint" function.

Yesterday you wrote you learned something new, today another one for you. BOINCStats, a widely used alternate multi client manager, has the feature. I never ever open the standard manager other occasional checkup.

I use BoincTasks 1.80 and it used to have it but it vanished.
