Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

If you as a contributor have different machines running with their own characteristics (power, runtime, competing uses etc) you can set up a distinct profile for each class of machine. I currently run two machines for WCG and one is much quicker than the other. Only the faster machine is opted in for ARP.

Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

True,
but at the same time, the BOINIC client 7.14.2 does perform a CPU evaluation, and will suspend work that was started in order to prioritize work that has an earlier due date.
It failed in this initially.
New work seems to be scheduled better now.
It seems that the work estimates are more accurate now, or the task assignments are being more reasonable for the host....
In either case, its working better now to allow work to complete before it expected deadline.

Tue 01 Feb 2022 06:38:29 EET.
Disk tab shows total disk usage of 5.8GB memory and 5.4gb as free. WPG has ca 320Mb. What should I do regarding the notice?

Is your profile set to use all of your disk space?

When the project is back from the dead, which, if past history is any indication of, might happen next year. Well, next world cup year. Maybe. If we're lucky.

In the meantime, you can crunch MCM.

ARP is back for crunching.
I found this Video on Youtube. It's maybe interesting, even when it does not mention WCG.

Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

Your ARP challenges do not appear in the Teams area at least for me!

So I created another challenge similar to your Nov challenge: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/chall...enge.do?challengeId=10979

Sorry if this sounds a little sceptical, but I'll believe it when I see it... We've been here, many times before and I'd personally 'ramp it up slowly' (perhaps, even with a Beta run) before saying "It's back....".

Obviously, I hope that I'm wrong - as this ARP project has been in hiatus for so long that, at times, I was simply waiting for the plug to be pulled (I've even questioned as to how useful the data will be, now that the climate has changed so much in the past couple of years), but, good luck everyone involved with this project and let's hope that we can finally bring it to a successful conclusion in a few months time after everything's been crunched.

EDIT: I stand corrected, after this post, I actually checked my workload and discovered that I had 4 ARP WU's across 2 of my devices - so, I've now kicked them off, hopefully, to 'return to base' before Monday.

Edit #2, for the record, all four WU's have a deadline of the 6th of Nov, and are named as follows;
ARP1_0011755_130_0
ARP1_0031931_130_1
ARP1_0027502_130_0
ARP1_0014660_127_1

The two on my faster machine, only have less than 1 hr left to do, whilst the other two wiil be fnished tomrrow. We shall see as to whether there are any issues in uploading/returning them - I didn't spot them being downloaded, so I'm assuming that they 'eventually' worked.

Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

The deadline is very short for work units like these, I have four running, none will be finished by the given deadline, (which I see is also shorter than the MCM work units). This is a 4GHz i7.
