Unixchick
This project is supposed to be doing a full year. However, each generation covers 2 days. I have assumed that they will be doing 183 generations so the last would be 182 having started at 000, but they might stop a day short rather than go a day long because they have not chosen a leap year. The faster machines are spread over all the priority generations so the real stragglers are only keeping pace with the last of the main generations. Personally I have not seen any of the real stragglers, but that is not surprising because there are only 6 of them out of 35609 units. Allowing for the wingmen there are just 12 machines that can have one at any time. From the point of view of catching up, those units would be better done by machines that turn ARP units around in under 24 hours, but they don't have to catch up quickly. There is another year to go. Good luck with the 1 year badge. I see you haven't got the 180 day badge yet. I am closing in on my 5 year and hoping for 10 before the end, but Iam also doing OPN, MCM, HST & SCC. Mike |

Mike
I had a generation 11 task last week, but that's the only sub 59 task I've had in the last month. It would be nice if there was some way for the real stragglers to be assigned to reliable PCs that always return results in under 24 hours. But that's probably not an easy programming task on the server side, or, they just aren't concerned about it. |

I would appreciate any comments on my reports - good, bad or indifferent. Any information not wanted, any extra wanted, etc. Mike, I entirely agree with Unixchick’s comments on this. I am grateful to knreed for his updates and to you for your analysis of them. The information provided is interesting and I find it fun to keep an eye on the latest work units and priority work units. I don’t have any particular suggestions for improvement in your reports. Many thanks, Mark |

At the time I write this, I have two 095s going on my main cruncher (configured to run three ARPs at a time), and an 094 that's grinding away on one of my old laptops, which looks like it will squeak in with under eight hours to spare. The other laptop has a 101, and an old FX is working on a 100.

It doesn't help when tasks are being sent to unreliable machines:
