Stats are now available.
----------------------------------------Only 12 extremes were validated of which 3 have escaped to accelerated. 16 accelerated were validated of which 10 escaped to normal and 3 joined from extreme. There appear to be only 9 extremes in motion and about 9 accelerated. There are 13,364 normals in the 5 generations currently being released and 21,428 normals in the 5 generations which are being held back. How many of these are stuck I can't say with any accuracy. This means that there is a maximum number of units possibly available of 13,382 so 26,773 including copies. Mike [Edit 1 times, last edit by Mike.Gibson at Feb 19, 2025 6:32:28 PM] |

First task for over 24 hours is a retread following "No reply" from one of the two initial machines. A couple of my pending validation tasks are fast approaching the cut off time so are likely to be more resends. No chance of my getting them as I only have the one Windows machine in a VM.

Something, somewhere, isn't working properly regarding ARP1...
I have just checked on my daily collection of the three ARP1 statistics files; my collection script flagged that all three were unchanged from the previous day! Obviously, this does happen when there is a period without work, but the Project Statistics page for ARP1 indicated a total of 3,213 results returned between the mid-day report for 2025-02-19 and today's mid-day report so there should be changes to those files :-) I wonder: is there some common issue that affects the generation of those files and the production of new work?... Cheers - Al. P.S. Today I got three tasks around 06:55 UTC, nothing before or after then... |

I will agree with Al and say that something is funky with the ARP WU stream. I got two ARP WUs since my last post, but I usually get more, even in these low flow times.

Al
They were late yesterday. See my post. Hopefully in the next hour. Mike |

ARP1_0010127_135_4 is my latest one. There are 3 "no reply"s and one "pending validation" and this one.

Al My script tries to pick up the files at about 14:20 UTC, and has retries scheduled for later in the evening and mid-morning the next day (which only do anything if the previous attempt missed a file for some reason...)They were late yesterday. See my post. Hopefully in the next hour. Mike So on 2025-02-19 I picked up all three files at 14:20 :-) -- their contents were self-consistent and the number of units moved (1,880 with 12 being Extremes) was fairly consistent with the number of results reported as returned during the noon-to-noon period (3,935, which suggests about 4.2% of non-Extreme tasks needed a retry (which seems typical at present...) By the way, I've just retried completed.txt (via the browser; 18:55 UTC) and there's no change... If you've still got yesterday's completed.txt could you post it so I can compare it with mine? If it's not the same, that suggests some other issues :-( Cheers - Al. |

I will agree with Al and say that something is funky with the ARP WU stream. I got two ARP WUs since my last post, but I usually get more, even in these low flow times. It could just be that we are about to have one of those periods where the ARP1 work-flow is slowed down or paused completely to try to allow all outstanding results to come in.Noting Sgt. Joe's retry with the three No Reply results (and my assessment that just over 4% of ARP1 tasks issued are retries, as per my reply to Mike), I do wonder how many more retries are out there... Bearing in mind that the results for a WU don't get counted in the Project Statistics until the WU can be assimilated, we can't know whether the bulk of what is being returned at present might be all retries! Also, without knowing how the mechanism for getting from "This grid cell is ready to have a new WU generated" to "These WUs are ready to be passed to the feeder" and "Please issue initial tasks for these WUs" controls the flow volume, we can only speculate -- although doing so might be fun [and is an understandable reaction!], it is unlikely to be useful; I just hope we don't irritate Tech Team by doing so :-) Cheers - Al. P.S. I'm all out of ARP1 work now; perhaps posting this will result in a sudden inflow of work as a [rare] positive application of Murphy's Law... |
