Fortunately, we now seem to be doing much better since the latest restart. Mike Agreed. All things considered, the work is flowing smoothly and it is a huge improvement from where it was a few months ago. Our systems are happy. I think it is important for all of us to remember that there is a limited amount of work available- it ebbs and flows- just like any distributed computing project. |

ARP1 distribution seems to have slowed considerably today. Getting 2 per hour was rather common over the last few days but today it has slowed to 1 every two to three hours. May be I'm not in an advantageous position in the distribution queue. Will have to start supplementing with other projects shortly.

Do the numbers in generations.txt and state.txt indicate the higher-level "work unit" level or all the replicated "tasks" aka "results"?
----------------------------------------For example: ARP1_0033793_117 work unit shows 6 results: ARP1_0033793_117_0 ARP1_0033793_117_1 ARP1_0033793_117_2 ARP1_0033793_117_3 ARP1_0033793_117_4 ARP1_0033793_117_5 and generations.txt shows that 6 are currently on generation 117 and 1 completed in the last day. If you look at that link, 1 out of the 6 results were completed, so maybe the text files count all the results? I think that's just a coincidence, since several generations only have 1 unit available, and ARP1 requires at least quorum 2, replication 2+.

generation.txt & state.txt are a snapshot of the UNITS as at midday GMT (UHT) , so do not count copies. Results counts copies. generations.txt is the basis for my Sunday Reports after Midday Sunday GMT (UTC). If you look at the link you will see that only 1 copy has been returned and that was after midday so it is still within the 6 as each of the 6 would need 2 copies returned, compared with the actual weather that occurred and validated before it can progress to 118. Sunday Report
----------------------------------------ARP seems to be running smoothly but with only a few units coming out. This report has been rebased since the January restart. Any forecasts will be based on average throughput for the weeks availailable until 5 weeks are available whence it will be based.on the last 5 weeks. All classifications have stayed put.. There are still 3 ultras in generations 21 & 22. There are 8 units seemingly stuck in generations 104 to 110. There are 71 other extremes missing from state.txt presumed stuck. There are now 337 extremes in generations 115 to 131. There are now 1,911 accelerated units in generations 132 to 136 and 33,,350 normal units in generations 137 to 146. The highest generation to have had validations is 141. 22,595 units have validated this week. Currently, I don't have any indication that there are any tasks other than from generation 141 going out.
