So knreed, against a strong impression and statement of 'we are in early discussion of implementing MCM on Android', can cancel his monthly 'no work for android' notice soon.
----------------------------------------Got 3 immediate upon hitting update. The download was amazingly swift. ๐ Edit: 'Small' is relative. All 3 are at 14% after 50 minutes. Only allow 75% of thread resources. One is for me. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 22, 2020 8:24:44 PM] |

Was looking for 512MB of memory... Wouldn't start on the smaller phones.

3 Done, 1 is valid, 2 pending. Test included an involuntary OS crash of my doing and an interruption to run the benchmark test, which I'd never seen BOINC on Android do before, so it looks like this 'beta17' is already aiming for RC1.
Initial runtime indication after 50 minutes at 14% was pretty good. Theyl finished between 5:45 and 5:47 hrs at 94% efficiency. ๐๐ค๐ |

So far things are looking good and I have loaded two more batches of the shorter running work units.
Thanks, armstrdj |

Got 17 so far. About half have already validated, the rest are pending. They're taking 2-3 hours to run on my droids.

Hmmm... Out of the 2 dozen android devices, i have one unit that caught a beta mcm unit. The unit is running on Android 5, so it is an older device. The result is pending validation after 11.6hrs runtime. The counter-validation is being done on a android 9 device from a different user. If that goes through, i will order 20 brandnew android devices running on android 9 as well with 8 cores each, adding 160 new cores to my research. (At the moment, winter sales are still on, i can get them for less than 60 bucks each. Worth a try!) Beside that i must say, that the last android version really supporting boinc crunching (even for other projects!) was android 7.1. So at the moment, i have 5 more devices on android 8/9/10 that absolutely do nothing as none of the boinc projects are producing valid results on them.
I really hope, with this beta-project, that we can get boinc crunching back on track on modern android version. I guess, it would bring lots of results towards the project. Happy crunching. Good luck. Hopefully the beta goes into real production. Oh yeah, before i forget... I read in a different forum, because of lack of boinc support on modern android devices, some people started crunching units on a app for android called dreamlab. It is a cancer project by london imperial college with the support of Vodafone(UK?). Perhaps worth having a peek at how they got things working? (Even though the base project concept of how they are crunching might be totally different... But who knows) |

I will be loading more batches for this beta later today. No guarantees but for anyone looking for beta work I would check around 18:00 UTC.
Thanks, armstrdj |
