Boinc fails to download data for work units

Hi all,

On my android 7 smartphone I got some work units, but they are still waiting for download. Boinc version is 7.16.5. Any ideas what may cause this problem?

According the alpha mailing list 7.16.5 is still in testing.

My tablet has 7.16.3 according the App Info screen running on Android 7 and it works fine. According https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php even 7.16.3 is still Development Version (MAY BE UNSTABLE - USE ONLY FOR TESTING). 7.16.5 not being offered as yet.

I think recommended versions have changed since then. I got my Boinc app from the Play Store, so I would assume I got the recommended version.

If you did then in the My Apps there will appear "Beta' as an option. If a BOINC is listed it will say if it was installed or not.

The info screen gives since a long time 7.4.53 as last update so you have to go to Android Settings > Apps > BOINC to find out the true installed version.

Not 100% sure, but in the alpha mail testing list there's mention of Android pre and post v8, so maybe 7.16.5 only goes to those releases, but it's not offered on my Android for testing.

The page I linked to is being updated, as 7.16.3 is now 7.16.5 .-MAY BE UNSTABLE - , just not 'modified'. If you look top left you see the latest 'update' for Windows was 10 March 2020

I'm not quite sure how I got this beta version, but I removed and reinstalled Boinc on my smartphone, and it now working on some smash childhood cancer tasks.
