I did it, thank you very much. I didn't touch my phone for 30 minutes and I saw that is warm from the back. I didn't have battery saver on but obviously Xiaomi with Miui 11 enable this for all apps, when I put no restriction, Boinc seems to work normally. Only thing that I need to check is when I put phone on charger through the night. Thanks to all of you guys for help.

Unfortunately, same thing happened last night. When I woke up, mobile was cold from the back and projects were on same percentage before charging. I really don't know what can I do anymore. When it is not on charger it seems that is everything fine and I don't have problems with crunching on battery. Happy Easter to all of you.

Do you have any app installed to save power when the screen is turned off (automatically or manually)? In order to save power, the app turn off every other app when the screen is off. Usually in this kind of app, there's a white list for some apps to be kept running in the background regardless of the power saving. Some Android phone are customized to have that feature by default, like my MI/3. Wait, there's another issue. If you had any security app installed, maybe the setting is set to 'clear any app in memory when screen is turned off'. Of course, there's a white list for that as well.

No, I don't have any power saver or security app installed on my mobile. But for last two days I have another big problem. MCM tasks are running for 9,10 hours or longer and this is weird because until now they were running for 5, 6 hours max. Crunching is so slow, what is happening? Does MCM tasks have longer run time or my mobile (CPU) is dying? I tried to find reason for this but my mobile in other aspects is working fine. Maybe to try reinstall Boinc app?
----------------------------------------When I go to result status page, just completed MCM task run time is 5,75 hours but on my mobile BOINC app elapsed time for this just completed MCM tasks was 9:30 hours?! MCM task that I run at the moment have elapsed time 10:06 hours with 92,5% completed but when it will be finished on result status page will show that I crunch this task for 5-6 hours?! Crunching for last two days is very slow, I run 4 cores out of 8 and something is weird but I don't know what, tasks are running so slow, all day I am crunching 4 tasks?! Event log is fine. You've got to be crazy if you'are in the northern hemsphire. It's too hot now. 4 out of 8 definately would make the battery overheated. When it reaches 40C, Boinc would automatically halt the crunching. My phone with Snapdragon 810 has 8 cores too, I only use 1 now and I still can feel the warmth. Try 1 core first and see if it's OK.

I have something similar occurring on one of my samsung phones. The following is happening:
1.) Phone is connected to charger: It starts to charge battery and is crunching. 2.) Phone is charged for 100% and stays on charger: It continues to crunch for about 2-3 hours. 3.) After 2-3 hours on 100% battery it deactivates the power input, stops crunching and is losing battery although it is still connected to charger. 4.) After reconnecting the charger (put it out and in again) phone restarts to load and crunch. This happens on only one Phone. I tryed different chargers und cables (which work on other phones without any problems) but this phone still deactivates the power input after 2-3 hours after battery reached 100%. Seems to me like some energy setting, but I have not found anything in the setting to get rid of it. At the moment I am using a work around: I am using a time switch to reconnect the power supply every 3 hours. Works fine. Oh and btw, I am using 8/8 cores for 24/7 in northern hemisphere. I did not experience any temperature problems. |

Too often I've heard that continuous battery charging is bad for, yes the [Lit-Ion?] battery. Many have electronics to essentially switch off charging, so the word is to BOINC to not crunch when not on charger. You could set it to crunch above 90% i.e. disable the 'On Charger' It will likely lead to a continuous use of battery and switching on and off of charger. My own I've set to 40% and only on charger and 3 of 4 cores. 3 cores the battery will fill up in a few hours, 4 cores the charger takes forever to fill up the battery if ever. In the instance the charger in not the OEM charger but rather a fast-charge USB device... continuous power stream.

This is obviously happening in my case. Problem can't be solved, only if I am awake and when mobile is full charged to stop this Boinc behaviour where it stops to crunch. Now is everything ok with crunching, projects are much faster again but problem with crunching on charger through the nightnstill exist. Thank you all for your answers.
Lavaflow, how many cores are you using for crunching? Do you run it on battery or only on charger? Thank you. |
