"GPUs not usable" in BOINC event log

a few weeks ago, I was asking here in the forum whether a RTX3070 will work with the WCG GPU tasks. The answer was "yes".
Today, I bought a PC with two GTX3070 inside, I installed BOINC and attached to WCG, used the same settings for GPU work which I am using for currently two other PCs, and when I try to download GPU tasks, the BOINC event log shows "NVIDIA GPU: GPUs not usable"
how come?

Please post the whole event long, first 60 lines or so.

I believe I saw something with this same message "GPUs not usable" recently.

Are you using remote desktop?

first part of my reply right away: YES, I am using remote desktop.

When I stop the Remote connection and work directly, this remark is no longer shown.
Strange though, isn't it?

Normally, I work with Remote, it's more practical here. Which now means whenever there is the Remote connection, now WCG GPU tasks can be downloaded. Why so?

Re: "GPUs not usable" in BOINC event log

I asked because I did a quick search and found the same error on a Milkyway@home thread and the replies seemed to indicate that Remote Desktop was the culprit.

I really don't know how to help. Hopefully someone will.

Re: "GPUs not usable" in BOINC event log

@Falconet: thanks anyway for the valuable hint. So at least I now know what the situation is.

Re: "GPUs not usable" in BOINC event log

Remote Desktop hooks into the GPU and takes it away from BOINC.

You have to stop using it. There’s no other solution.

Use something else like VNC. Or just interface with the system directly.

thanks for the explanation. So now I know.
Remote Desktop would make things easier, but I can also hook to the system directly, if there is no other way.
Would just be great if there were more GPU tasks available smile

P.S. Folding@Home and MLC@Home are working via Remote Desktop.
So this problem I am facing seems to be WCG-specific, for what reason ever.

No, RDP stops always GPU-using with Windows-OS under Boinc.
It's not WCG only!

Re: "GPUs not usable" in BOINC event log

For checking into the remote system to see how BOINC is doing, consider using BoincTasks instead.

Does not interfere with tasks on any gpu.
