Okay, I may not be the brightest lightbulb out there and to be honest I have not been looking that much.
----------------------------------------I needed to add another phone to my powerhouse (2 phones now!) and I went to the Google Play Store and saw the same old version 7.4.xxx. ----------------------------------------WCG isn't responsible for the BOINC software. The reason the BOINC software on the Google Play Store is not up to date is because of Google rules. The BOINC team can't update the software because Google forbids apps that then download other software (the science apps). Apparently there is no issue keeping the old version on the Play Store. So, as you have already noticed, use the BOINC Software available from the BOINC website. ----------------------------------------Thanks for that! Interesting the google rules. I can understand them. WCG does however point you to BOINC to download the android version. I just feel a bit silly for never having seen that there was a rather more up to date version available. I've been plugging away on the 7.4.xxx version for at least a couple of years I would think... |

Ah, I see what you mean.
----------------------------------------I agree, it should point to the BOINC website. However, since installing BOINC for Android using the apk from the official website is harder than simply hitting "Install" on the Play Store I do understand why they choose the Play Store version instead.
